I thought kieron made it clear, but apparently not, please do not discuss politics on the forums.
Really, it's not like we do not share a lot of the views that are posted (probably), but it's just not a topic we wish to see on a gaming site. I'm sure there are a lot of forums out there dedicated to politics, you can google for them and use them instead.

Now, what would be the point of that since everyone uses google to search anyway? And if they don't they're heretics and deserve to burn.
Besides, english not my first language, you mean to me.

Google is a noun, verb, adjective, and an ideal.

Seriously though, I agree that moderators should use proper english, even though you have to excuse us sometimes since far from all of us have english as our first language. I wouldn't want to see any of my guys posting things like "U R b34utiful". But of course we do sometimes use it as a joke.
When it comes to google though, it's just so much easier to type "google it" than "search for it with google" or something like that. And this is the interweb after all, some "slang" is allowed.

Originally by: BBC Article Under the new system, your online character becomes less and less effective. After three hours, the number of in-game "experience points" for, say, killing an opponent are reduced by half.
After five hours you do not get any at all. It is called the fatigue system.
It is this government-imposed restriction which kills the EVE concept. I suppose some compromise has been achieved where it is not skillpoint gain which is nerfed after 5 hours, but payout from NPC bounties or the like. But if it's skillpoints, it just means everyone will try to keep each account online for 5 hours out of every 24, and a week away from EVE on other business would entail being regularly logged in and AFK, or losing training.
Really we have not been told anything about what the parallel EVE world is like, but by the standards we have come to expect here, it is most likely a shadow of the true and pure concept. But I guess CCP has to pay for their toys somehow.

The legislation that article is talking about is a response to online games in general, from WoW to Counter-Strike. Unlike a lot of those games, the skill system (and general gameplay mechanics) from EVE encourages players to take a breather now and then.
That is one of the reasons I like EVE as much as I do, and until you get confirmation about how EVE China would be regulated it is a little early to be jumping to any conclusions. _

Originally by: kieron Let's leave the politics out of the thread, please.
Serenity is in alpha testing, and we are hoping it will go live by the end of summer. At this point, I do not know if non-Chinese players will be able to log in or not.
Serenity will be a clean slate, no characters or accounts will be migrated over from Tranquility.
Thanks for the reply, a clean slate is what i want, i wish you quys would player wipe TQ sometimes

Social Security Number
In the United States of America there is a method of federal identification know as the "social security number". This was never specified as to become a method to identify people and there's been many concerns of it's usage.
The SSN consists of 9 numerical digits in the form of xxx-xx-xxxx. The first three digits designates the origination of birth for the individual.
Due to the ease of "identity theft" more and more institutions are removing the SSN as a method to track and verify individuals.

Because Iceland has different laws, and does things differently. In this respect no-one in under any obligation to strike a 'balance'.

Do you mean players from mainland China, or Chinese-speaking players from around the world? If the latter, then there shouldn't be any change from how it is now.
But who can say whether or not access to Tranquility will be blocked by the Chinese government's scrubbers after the Shanghai servers go live.
I mean players from Mainland China... i'm asking cus I may be going back to China this summer for a few months... would be nice if i can still play while i'm there :P
