Ever tried to move your probes and accidentally clicked on the wrong apot and instead of moving the probes to the left a little, they are now dozens of AU above where you wanted them? It's not much of a big deal to move them back really but it does get annoying. Would it be possible to get a "revert to last configuration" button that could allow you to just have the probes move back to the last adjusted configuration? This would also apply to scan range as well since it is just as easy to accidentally click the bubble rather than the camera angle. |

Your right this is a PITA issue. I think the issue is the little arrows. If you click on a side of the cube to move the probes it works fine as it moves the probes in the same plane as you view the cube from. But if you accidentally click on the arrows emanating from the sides then it moves it a totally different direction, or perpendicular from the plane you view the cube on. This is why you get such irritatingly random moves. Very irritating when trying to combat probe people down, when speed is the essence. Since you have to move the cube in three planes each and every time, and each time of those three moves could cause the issue, yeah it annoying!
I propose that the arrows are removed entirely or clicking on the cube itself does nothing. Personally I always use the cube, but I could adapt. Then an undo button would not be necessary.
While we are at it, we could discuss the problem with the mechanics of triangulation too... Basically 4 hits are all that is required to achieve an accurate 3D position, whereas 5 hits provide receiver autonomous integrity monitoring, or RAIM in the GPS world. Therefore if 5 probes are within range of a target it should automatically produce an acquisition of said target without any further action required... |

Really? No. There are no "Undo's" or "Do-Overs" in EVE Online...FML.
You screwing up your scanning gives me opportunity to escape if you were trying to probe me out. If my guns miss you can I "Undo" and "Redo" that shot?
Learn2EVE. Enough said.
As for RL examples of signal\target acquisition...just don't go there. We fly in internet spaceships and are immortal...RL example that if you can. Fast Character Switching "XP Stylee" Undocking - More Routes Out of Station Here's my tear jar > |_| < Fill 'er up! |

I agree with you on no undo buttons. It really is a user interface problem. One that is worth addressing for that simple fact alone. User interface within the game is always open for discussion.

Get's even less if you D-Scan and probe...believe me, I've seen mothers drop on babies within 30-45 seconds of entering a system and it's scary how fast they can find you...
I agree that the interface needs some tweaking but an "undo" is not the way to go about it. Custom Probe Formations would be a step in the right direction with set ranges as well being remembered. Custom Probe Formations would be a step in the right direction with set ranges as well being remembered. You already can do custom probe formations with different ranges too. I have experiment with it, but it is for me faster and easier to manually change ranges. Once again agree, Undo is not the way to fix it. Fix the ui.

This idea really is one of those minor improvements in EVE to make people's lives slightly easier. Unfortunately it's always met with (incredibly hostile) resistance from people that hate minor improvements on the astronomically low chance that their ship gets blown up for it.
There really is no denying that an undo button is an objective improvement of (pretty much any) user interface provided it still makes sense. And minor progress like this should not be stunted by people whos only argument rests upon the fact that it might someday negatively affect them. Despite what you may have heard there's only one rule of EVE:
Never stop learning and realise there's always a lot more to be learned. To this end, seek wisdom in everything. |

I understand Maximus' reasoning. If there could, instead be an improvement to the interface so these mistakes are less because of a crowded screen and weird angles I would be ok with that as well. And if it helps maybe the undo button would only work for the last move so you can't just revert back to an old spot along with the proper size. I Just hate clicking what I think is empty space and accidentally resizing my bubbles way out of range. |
