...In a Vexor to be specific. Do any of you have any suggestions on a setup? (Assuming this is even possible, hey if it's not give me suggestions for a Brutix setup, since I'll be able to fly one tonight.)
Any help is very welcome.

I have done 950k and double 800k spawns in my Cyclone. With better skills (e.g. tech II guns) I am sure I could do better

i've taken on 1 bs in my destroyer and was able to talk about it later, an hour later i went after 2 bs and got my butt kicked, both encounters were in .2 space, so like the other guy said, you can go and sometimes you'll win and sometimes you'll lose but to me thats where the money is

With 1/2 decent skills and the right sort of tanking it is possible to do 0.0 spawns in a cruiser.
Its also possible to do battleship spawns in elite frigates.
If you want to try this out try going after sanchas NPCs, they only do EM and THERMAL damage so are easy to target your resistances.
Now recruiting

I've seen (well, killed ) many cruisers ratting in 0.0 space. Usually they are caracals or thorax's. I suppose it depends what rats you are trying to tank. I could see Angels being a pain for cruisers.

You don't find BS in 0.2 (unless missioning) I think you mean BC's? -------------------------------------

I've been able to take certain BS spawns with a Vexor. I typically use a Brutix in 0.0 and my drones can easily kill a 950k BS by themselves. Vexor's drones are much more effective so damage is fine. Just make sure there aren't any missle spammers or webbers and that you can get close and orbit the BS to maintain a high transversal. --------------------------------------------------

Vexor is actually better than the Brutix for this, unless you've got uber BC skills. Find NPCs that don't have good range and don't spam missiles, fit a 1600mm plate and a drone link augmentor, then engage from 50+km where they can't hit you and don't have the tracking to hit the drones. It can be a bit slow with five T1 medium drones against a BS, so get Cruiser IV, drone interfacing, combat drone operation etc up.

I hunt in 0.0 with my Arbitrator often and was doing it with only about four or five months worth of training.
Infact, it isn't the battleships I am worried about but their cruiser and frigate escort. Those smaller guys usually bring down the pain on me. Have to be very careful when taking on a five cruiser spawn but I can almost fall asleep taking on a two battleship spawn. Just orbit the battleship and let my drones loose.
I hunt Sansha Nation battleships so your mileage may vary on other NPCs.

I believe they are Gurista(sp?) ships, they launch missles that do kin/therm damage. I should load up on thermal/kinetic plates.

To rat in 0.0 with just a cruiser you need to set up for long range (100km) and speed.
Once you manage to do this, just head to a belt and shoot the cruiser/battlecruiser spawns from the distance. If you are out of their range, then you are fine.
If they get in your range and you cant handle it, just warp out and warp back in when you're fine.

I think you can rat in anything you wish in 0.0. I ratted in an inty and killed cruisers and frigs, with af, my record was a bc (I know, it's rather lame, but it was amarr af against guristas bc). To rat in cruiser you need to take on the spawnes without battleships, and have good passive tank skills (lvl 4-5). I think that tanking the ship to the max and using tech II drones to kill NPC's would be a nice idea. For that purpose Thorax would be great.

You can rat in a vexor in syndicate. You will just need good drone skills to break tanks. Serp do pathetic damage.

It is possible to rat in 0.0, but it depends on the spawns and your skills. With your skills at lvl 2-4, you could probably do up to the weaker BC spawns, but the BSes and elite ships may give you problems. Personally, I'd stay away from dire guristas NPCs unless you have a friend with you, or FOFs to kill the jam-spamming bastards.

It's generally not worth the time though.

Or for speed and get close to non missile rats that cant track close up.
Killing Blood BS's in a caracal is possible if you survive getting in.
Warping to cans or BM's roids close to your targets is a good bet.

For gurristas, use two kinetic and one thermal. For serpentis, use two thermal and one kinetic.
Im not sure about anything else.
And yea, its possible to rat in 0.0 and survive.

QFT
Also, and more importantly, it can take so long to kill the bigger spawns in a cruiser that you'll probably make more money by hunting in low sec. So unless you're just doing it for the challenge it's not worth it.

I'd have to agree that it's technically possible, but it's not likely to happen with someone with your skills. I'd suggest either going with several other cruisers, or tagging along with a BC or BS so that they can tank the damage. For going solo, I wouldn't go below a BC with T1 ships...if you have access to T2 ships, though, you can do it in frigs with the right setups.

Sometimes I wounder if you actually play the game before you speak. If anything, the BS spawns are easier than the BC spawns because the battleships cant hit you, while the battlecruisers can, and they tend to hurt as well.

Edited by: Lefia on 13/04/2006 06:12:05 I've done 0.1 space in a T1 (not named, T1) fitted omen, so I could forseably do some light 0.0 in a T2 fitted omen without much difficulty. The biggest problem would be the approach, if you approached too directly you'd be shredded quite harshly. Never really flown a vexor personally, but I'd probably go with a heavy tank and let the drones handle most of the work. Oh and fly with as much transverse as you can muster.
Originally by: hired goon I agree with every point and counter point that has been brought up in this and every other argument ever had.
