I don't understand the difference between described security rating and true security rating. Please explain? Thanks.

'Described' sec rating only goes down to 0.0, where as 'True' sec rating goes down to -1.0 I think (although I don't think there are any quite that low).
The difference is important when ratting/mining in 0.0, you'll only find the rarer ores in truly low sec (eg. < -0.5).

The map is lacking in a lot of areas, and I remember hearing somewhere that they were planning to revamp the map, so perhaps they'll add it then.

You could grab the RMR/Blood data dump from t20. The post has been unstickied some time ago so you might have to use the new search feature in the top right hand corner --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. Probably to slow down the process what happened anyway. To keep miners/ratters from opening the map, setting the lowest sec system with belts as the destination, and going straight there.
It's pointless for them to hide it now, since even if you manage to get through the gank at the chokepoints, the limited % of systems with any worthwhile ore/npcs are flooded anyway.

So much for a minute
http://www.ffs-corp.co.uk/truesecurity.php
I'll tidy it up so you can only see constellations and systems in the region/constellation when you select them in the box, maybe tomorrow, but for now, it'll work fine __________________________________ Are you a mission runner? Have you tried our Agent Tool and Mission Guides? You should! |

Don't trust 'true' sec rating, personally. I've had chains of double/triple BS spawns in systems everyone said were 'crap' for ratting 'cos their sec rating isn't low enough'.

Does anyone know the breakdown of what kind of NPC's spawn for what true sec?
For instance, am I making a big mistake by ratting in a 0.3 system vs a 0.6 system? I'm not sure I understand exactly how this effects things. I understand the ore part, you just don't get the goods... but what about rats?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Would be better if the game showed the complete security rating instead of showing it truncated, specially now when there are websites you can go to anyway.
