i never normally notice it, since my neck of the woods is quiet - but in some systems deeper in empire space, it's stupid.

Can't you open the containers in 0.8 and above? I was under the impression that they are unable to be locked in systems with high sec.
I haven't checked out belts in Empire for the longest time so I don't know tbh.

It's true but those that were anchored before that rule came into effect still work. They were planned to be unanchored and we all got sseveral months advanced warning but they never bothered doing it.

That's quite unfortunate then.
Nevertheless, I have complete faith that this will be done, "SOON".

Well, I will say it here as well, (I should just type it out and just copy and paste it when threads like this appear). Anyway, I agree it is 100% ridiculous.
And:
Make Secure Containers anchored around celestial objects like: Belts, Stations, Gates, deteriorate over time. Each 7-10 days, if the container is not opened then it looses 25% of its HP. At the end of the month, if the can was not opened, it explodes.
This way we keep all our Ammo Caches strewn around the 0.0 and low sec and all the eyesores, however, are quietly disposed of. Those who mine on regular basis will upkeep their cans by using them and the superfluous cans will be gone within a month or so.

Well, to be honest I think 4 weeks of "No access" is a very fair solution in my opinion. This pretty much covers any contingency, in case you are sick, your PC goes bust or whatever. After 4 weeks of no acsess no one can't complain they did not have "enough" time to take care of their secure can.

And add a skill called station keeping to corp management requireing anchoring lvl 5 - 10% longer life times of secure cans per level

Anything on a grid with anything else in, you mean? Good idea.

Rather than having cans die after long periods of inactivity, I think it would be better to introduce can hacking. A hacking device would probably have to be left by the can, and it would take a few weeks to break the lock, but once it does, the can would then belong to the hacker. If the owner comes and checks on the can before the hacking device has finished hacking the can, they could destroy the hacking device. I'm not quite sure how to handle multiple hackers trying to break into the same can though. |

Change the lock to a time lock, perhaps. After a month of not being accessed the can unlocks and un-anchors.

Secure cans should only last a week or month then self-destruct.
Perhaps if they are not used for a couple days they may pop as well. Then you must use the can often, or store it if you're going away.

I think we should probably start the "Stop Can Spam" Campain, just drop a can in Can Spamed space that says Stop Can spam, Eventualy the Developers might get the idea that spam cans need to be caned.

I am glad so many people think that all this can spamage is ridiculous. The main thing is that, as Maya Rkell clarified my other statement, we need to clear the cans from places where they are on the same grid as other entities: belts, stations, gates, moons, etc.
I am sure allot of people here have nice little stashes in 0.0 in safe-spots and stuff, it would be a shame to narf them together with the space trash.
I know Devs been promising to take care of this problem for ages now, perhaps it is time for them to actually put it on the ôto doö list.

it has to be a can record there, more cans in one belt than roids in the whole system --------------------------

Since we need more MONEY SINKS in the game ... suggestion:
Charge an 'Anchoring TAX' -OR- Monthly Anchoring Fee ... To Be paid like Office Rental Fees.
Then if you DON'T paid your fee .. the can becomes 'unanchored' and goes away OR becomes SPACE SALVAGE and free pickings for 'salvagers' ....
Just a thought

Cans need an overhaul. we need new, larger cans, that can hold more than one cycle or ore when mining with a covetor. I'd like to see cans up to 20,000 M3.
Afterwards, we can restrict cans being placed. I always like having number of cans deployable based on Anchoring skill, IE, 3 cans per level of anchoring. But I suppose the precedent is there for having Charters to keep them anchored. so you gotta pay to keep them anchored.

They really should remove the anchored cans, it gives new players, who are most likely to see these belts, a bad impression.

also how can such a tiny frigate carry such a big can ?? and then create more ever minute? where do they come from?
perhaps the size of the can should be in proportion to the size of the ship. |

We were talking about "Secure Cans" and how they are a blight and anchored everywhere without rhyme or reason. Frigates cant carry anything larger than a "Small Secure Container."
The regular drop cans, or Jet-Cans are 27,000 m3 because it is a max size for an Indy 5 with 27% Expanders or something. But doesent really apply here.
