As a former long-time lowsec pirate turned highsec merc/greifer, my experience with lowsec is that it used to be a haven for small gang skirmish warfare, and this is what I fell in love with. The main thing that I can think of that has lessened this is the prevalence of Supercaps and Caps in general, and the threat of the hotdrop being real even in lowsec.
My Proposal:
- Restrict the use of Supercaps and possibly even carriers in lowsec.
You could either make it so drones simply can't be deployed by caps when in lowsec, or restrict the use of the Cyno to deep lowsec such as .1, or perhaps restrict it to lowsec that is direct contact with 0.0. The Cyno restriction would allow Caps and Jump freighters to still take haven in lowsec, but would allow small gangs to flourish knowing the threat of the hotdrop is not there. Also I do not feel the Cyno restriction needs to apply to the Covert Cyno. Allowing the covert Cyno in lowsec and no others might make Black Ops more prevalent in lowsec and increase the use of a rarely used ship type, another added bonus.
I feel this change would bring the coveted 'Thunderdome' effect to Lowsec and it would become a home to elite small scale PvP. |

lowsec is just a buffer zone where jump freighters cyno in on the way to highsec doing logistics between empire and 0.0. Its not for pvp. |

Provide a Lore Reason why a Caps and Super caps shouldn't be able to make it into Low Sec?
There are plenty of low sec pockets Where Gang PVP could still be effectively done. Having to worry about the fear of Capital Ships... If you get hot dropped and you're willing to go all out you could probably take it down with enough people... The cap ship wouldn't be able to effectively fight back by its self with enough small ships flying around it that it can't target. ^_^.
I know that i'm working on something that could counter almost any pvp force that I come across aside from being out numbered... We'd have to constantly try and out number our enemy. in Players and Available ships to lose to get the drop that we're searching for. |

The 'Lore' in this game is what ever CCP decide to make it, provide a 'Lore Reason' for the past 100 changes to the game.
Dropping a single carrier on someone isn't the base of this problem.
Also, I'm not sure you know what the hell you're talking about. My idea to fix Lowsec. |

I have live in low sec for many years. but I have move on.
Not because of any of the reasons you have given.
I left because low sec has nothing to offer. and can make more isk in Hi sec and 0,0 You can get better pvp in hi sec and 0,0
In the last many expansion for eve I have hope that someone at ccp will make low sec better and give players that don't like 0,0 Blob, mobile warp dis, and all the other fun stuff about 0,0. I love 0,0 and i halte it.
Hi sec. what pvp are there you might say. I'm now a hi sec merc, and I love that I get pay to pvp. I don't have to do missions or make isk, as it is war dec. no need to get sec status as I lose none. but it is not all ways fun.
Low sec. where do I start. bad for making isk. bad for pvp. gate gun and GCC timers and the sec status hi. for killing a pos in low 12,5% sec lose, you cannot get a fuel save on pos as you cannot get any lev of sov.
There was ones talk about make it so you can have control over a low sec system it never happen. The only thing I see low being use for. is kill a FW target now and then when I feel like it.
Sorry to say for me Low is dead. ccp need to fix it somehow. or remove it. make it hi sec or 0,0

I would be ok with restricting the abilities of supers in low sec but not for normal caps. Normal caps are not a problem in low sec and never really have been. I suspect SC's will be less of a problem with the changes since they pose no real threat to subcaps now but time will tell. If a super capital restriction was put in, it shouldn't prevent them from jumping in, it should be a weapon system restriction. As such, SC's wouldn't be able to launch any drones and titans would be unable to bridge or use their doomsday (already banned).
As for low sec in general, it's fine the way it is. The problem is other aspects of the game that work against it. The biggest problem is combat probing. It's far too easy. No one except lvl5 runners run missions there for that reason. Of course, probes also show up on the overview so it's basically impossible to actually catch someone with combat probes. The other part is high sec income got boosted so much with incursions that low sec lvl4 running has become a pretty big joke by comparison. So low/null sec lvl4's need a buff of some sort too. |

low sec needs to be bigger, more of it so it can't be easily patoled with an alt scout. Deep space complexes may help with mass per minute restrictions, Number or size restrictions. sorta limited access rooms. Like FW but with different limitations besides ship types
I know miners and missioners would feel safer.
With the new super changes I don't expect to see as much super blob
a corp mate Gevlin was proposing a an ability to hide in low sec so Missions and Miners will have to be looks for to be found in system. If gankers spent the time they could sneak up on these guys with out showing in local if they took the right steps.

Supercap drops on the whole should be nerfed in my opinion. Changing the cyno mechanics could easily do this. In my opinion supercaps should only be able to jump to generators or cyno fields created by recons, and the cyno would need to be up for say 2 minutes before a super could jump to it. This way supercap hotdrops would become far less effective, and moving them would take more planning and care. |
