Maybe I'm just providing a service here but it feels dirty. I'm sure you've seen people hanging out in jita with billion-isk killrights sitting within the docking radius. Clearly they want you to buy the killright from their alt; then they'll just dock up.
But as with isk doubling and miner bumping, there's a way to turn anything into a "legitimate" business. Particularly in a world full of trigger-happy gankers. So I took out Athena's catalyst (one of many alts) and ganked myself, generating a killright on Athena that I could sell. Both characters being under 900k sp means there's no real loss here.
Then it was time to set a more reasonable pricepoint. This takes almost no effort... 100mil? 100mil seems more reasonable a return than a bil for almost nothing invested.
Then it was just up to finding something that looked like it had worth but didn't. The Primae. It used to be worth something. With industrial changes it becomes less and less worthwhile. But most people don't have one of their killboard. Load it up with a couple of mods that look like they might have some value, and sit clearly outside the docking radius of the station.
Then I did the one thing that's guaranteed to get you killed. I started autopiloting. Or I'd just let my ship sit outside a station and walk away. Soon enough I'd earned 100mil.
Rinse, repeat.
I set out thinking I was starting a scam. But I'm beginning to think it may just be a completely legitimate service. "Gank a primae! Only 100 mil!". Maybe it should even be advertised. But it still feels exploitative. |

There are some players who use this as their primary source of income.
They autopilot around in capsules in highsec or sit on lowsec gates and wait to be killed then sell the kill right.
Fairly lucrative from what I understand. eve-bazaar - I'm not associated with them, but support it as a worthwhile service |

How come it's an exploit if somebody is stupid enough to pay you 100mil for killrights instead of just ganking you with 2 mil dessie? Well, it is making money on stupidity but that is basically how you do anything in Eve :) I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |

I'll have to try that. Time to go pod autopiloting through FW zones. |

Exploit....
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

If you think that's cool, try putting some plastic wraps in a freighter, fully insuring it, and sitting on a gate with a billion killright active. I've heard that works. Now, I can only condone this if you have a mining permit and stay at your keyboard to greet the agents passing by. See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did. |

Selling killrights is perfectly legit.
Funny, too, when someone pays 100mil to pop something worthless. You would be surprised how often it works if you double wrap a container in a noobship. People are willing to take the chance that it's a PLEX. Not posting on my main, and loving it.-á Because free speech.-á |

Just be aware that with a lot of -5 sec status pilots in FW you can have a few losses before a kill right worth selling (though even kill rights on -10 characters are purchased by those too quick to check).
The best approach is to roll a fresh character with no training, that way you don't even have to update the clone ever and can just go getting podded with no downside.

I wouldn't call this an exploit. I call it inventive, and that's what you're supposed to do in Eve. Don't feel bad about it either. People love stat padding their killboards, and you're just supplying them with that service at a cost. Everyone wins in the end. |

An exploit is taking an advantage of a bug or some clearly unintended consequence of something in the programming to gain an unfair advantage. Escaping Concorde for example is officially an exploit no matter how you achieve it as it is the express intention of the Devs that you never escape Concorde.
This stuff may (or may not) be a scam but its certainly not an exploit.

Yes Charlie. The player who sells the killright receives the ISK. eve-bazaar - I'm not associated with them, but support it as a worthwhile service |
