Felt the burnout in 2011. I was a bit put off by the whole walking in station concept... (lol, so did that ever really happen) Can you guys play cowboys and indians in-station, or is that still a dream?
I gave it some time away, got into a few other games. I am back to drive the old hot-rod-Lincoln around the block and see if I miss the old gal.

WiS is still constraint to one room, feels like they kinda dropped it, or put on the backburner.
Stuff since then: tiericide, all ships of same class need same skills to fly (no more BC III for one of the BC, or Industrial V for the iteron V), more logical skillprogression in ships (Frig - destroyer-cruiser-BC-BS ) Lots of shiprebalancing, some new ships added (Battlecruisers with BS sized guns!)
Lots of other stuff too, too much to mention really. The Xiadii Charity Ball Caldari Navy arrests Wing Commander Okuuda! |

Interesting. What Battlecruisers have BS sized guns? Are they all the PVP rage, or a glass cannon / one trick pony?
Is faction war still much of a component of this game?
LOL.. on a side note. It took me F-O-R-E-V-E-R to remember my account info and character names. What a hot mess. I should have saved that info somewhere.
I wanted to give the game a second chance as I had fun the first go around. That, and I just got done building a pretty sweet gaming rig and I can only play BF4 so much. There is not a ton of skill associated with that game. So, back it is to check out the graphics and whatnot.

They are used alot for highsec ganking & gatecamping due to their high damage. Unlike other BC however, they field poor tanks, so they're more an offensive ship, nuke m down before they kill you.
AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED wrote: Is faction war still much of a component of this game?
People still play it alot, fights go back & forth, but you rarely hear much of it, unless there's internal wars/fighting

Well, game also got some graphic updates, so that'll suit you fine! Most recent was the graphic update of the stations.
Also, exploration has changed alot (scanning things with probes) has seen alot of focus over the years, result is that it's now a viable profession, alongside missions, mining, production etc. Bonus, it's that it's a profession that works nice in lowsec, so it can be seen as a way to give lowsec that little bit extra. A few I can think off (that I think happened after 2011?) -Exploration is very different, seems kind of dumbed down really. -There's a safety thing that will prevent you from doing anything that will lower your security status, if you don't turn it off. -If you do a criminal action, you get a timed suspect flag or criminal flag; anyone can kill you without any penalties while your flag is on. -FW got overhauled and is pretty active and profitable now. -Passive income from R&D agents got nerfed. -Mission runners now have a hooverizer thing that sucks in wrecks. -Interceptors are immune to bubbles. -Ships now have different warp speeds (intys fast, haulers slow, etc.) -New very fast Leopard shuttle lets you do long trips very quick. -New Sisters of EVE ships, focused on exploration. -New Ghost Sites for exploration. -Players can capture and own PI customs offices. |

If you want to know more then The Altruist know your enemy series is good reading. The guy has stopped blogging and some of the ships may have changed during the recent ship balancing but most of the info there is still valid. |

Steps to decide whether or not to come back to Eve:
Step 1: Think about coming back to Eve.
Step 2: Read through expansion histories, google and forum posts from the time you left and see whats changed.
Step 3: Decide whether or not coming back to Eve is right for you.
Step 4: Resub your account.
I have no clue why people insist on doing this in reverse order. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

AGORAPHOBIC NOSEBLEED wrote:Are 0.0 blob fights still a sort of frozen log-jam where your ship doesn't respond for several minutes and then you flash forward to being in station? Nope. A system called "time dilation" (short, TiDi) was implemented, in which the server intentionally puts the action into slow-mo so it can handle everything going on. The effect is that everything moves, shoots, etc, more slowly but the system does not crash.
As with many things, TiDi has its own hiccups, but CCP has been monitoring and improving it, especially since it gets them some really nice fame because of huge battles like Asakai.
Ed: Unrelated note... There has been extensive rebalancing of a majority of ships, with many getting complete makeovers with new roles, slot layouts, etc. There are also a bunch of new ships. Make sure to check everything out, and don't rely by default on any 2011 loadouts. That all seems like good news at least.
As far as load outs go, that's a good point. Hell, I might still have a few cruisers with "large rigs" on them somewhere. It looks like I have some catching up to do.

Checks alliance ticker. Nope. TEST is still alive and well, though significantly diminished.
@OP, tiericide. All T1 have been rebalanced. Most of T2 have been rebalanced. (CCP doesn't seem to know what to do with recons.)
The Deimos is a solo pvp beast.
Caldari HACs are now good.
Dramiel is mostly dead.
PL just lost a war.
Tier 3 Battlecruisers (the ones with the large guns mentioned above) are pretty baller and are primarily snipers, Talos excepted.
Drake and Heavy Missiles got nerfed into the ground. HAMs are awesome, though still short range.
All Medium turrets are now viable.
Faction Warfare is huge. Every FW war-zone is well populated. Losec is now a vibrant and active community.
Exploration got.... changed. New mini-game. No rats. Resultant drop in T2 salvage and invention items prices crashed the cost of T2 rigs. They are now affordable, though still no cheap.
Marauders got a new Bastion module that give them the most ridiculous tank ever. 1M EHP and 10k dps active rep tanks are possible.
And about one thing has not changed: The Mittani (a la GoonSwarm and the greater CFC) is still winning Eve.
I think that about does it.
edit: Oh lord. How could I forget.... Drones are now the best weapon system in Eve (until this summer.) Dominix and Ishtar fleets abound. Free Ripley Weaver! |

Big change: T1 logistics and EWAR ships are now viable--so viable, in fact, that several of them have had to be nerfed back down. There are T1 logistics frigates--three out of four of them are the old mining frigates--and they're a thing. The exception is the Tormentor, which is now a kiting combat ship; the Inquisitor is now the Amarr logistics frigate.
There is a dedicated mining frigate, the Venture. Mining barges, exhumers and industrials have been changed considerably--there's now a reason to own something other than a Hulk (even the Venture scales up quite nicely).
Sisters of EVE now has faction ships. Proud founder and member of the Belligerent Desirables. |
