Being new to Eve & seeing what a mostly unkind world it appears to be I was surprised to see an advert in Jita spam giving away free isk if you follow the "rules"
Some of the rules were in a font so small that they were only legible if you captured the entire screen then pasted it into notepad so it could be read. The other crafty aspect was the appending of further text so far down the page that it would easily be missed if you did not capture the page. Then there was the construction of the rules which made the formatting of the text very ambiguous.
Consider the following which has been captured for examination:
One of the only legit game hosts in Eve universe. Read the rules carefully! ISK sent not following rules will be accepted as donation and may not be refunded. Feel free to contact my previous customers if you want proof of my legitimacy.
1m-20m ISK = 2x return 50m-100m ISK = 2.5x return 300m-500m ISK = 3x return 800m-2b ISK = 3.5x return I have over 40b in plain ISK another 19b in assets, so every offer can be done. RULES: You play by simply sending me amount of ISK and watch the chat. once you win you are disqualified for the day. Player must enter following into the reason box without the quotation marks: "I have read the rules!." Your reward will be sent within one minute. If you have not got your reward by then, contact me, and we will sort it out. This game is made possible by donations of players that have not read nor followed the rules.
Also attach "?"" at the end the reason box. (note this was in an amazing small font)
add ""please"" to reason box (note this was right at the bottom of the page with a big scroll down to get to the nearly hidden line)
My interpretation of the instructions to be pasted in the reason box would be:
I have read the rules!. ""please"" "?""(end box)
however the ambiguity of the rules could be interpreted as
I have read the rules!. "please" ?"(end box) (sets of quote marks removed from each new line)
My opinion is that we have a set of rules which cannot be fairly interpreted as any formatted reason is potentially wrong. As a matter of interest has anybody worked out what the construction of the "reason" should be and more importantly have you received any ISK for your trouble? from a similar scheme?
Enjoy- being potentialy scammed!

If it seems too good to be true, it's a scam. If it seems legit, It's a scam, you just haven't worked out how it is and who it is scamming yet. |

It's a scam. If you can pretend that someone didn't follow a rule, it'll help them accept it faster so that you can get back to making money.
That said. Everyone should try to double their money at least once. Otherwise it's like visiting London and not seeing Big Ben |

Who knows, maybe others are legit as well. You should do some due diligence and try some out.
Not everything in local is a scam. Lots of honest merchants advertise businesses there. See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did. |

I've bought rigged battleships at under market prices - and it was advertised in local. True story.
I also almost bought rigs, fittings, and no ship - that was also in local...

I have a friend who regularly reports the club opposite his apartment to the police for allowing in minors, just so he can sit at the window drinking and laughing when the cops show up and raid the place. Time and time again. |

So you're reporting some guy who isn't doing what you are claiming he is doing, and such an accusation isn't against the rules. Some people just need the report button disabled lol

Basically you just ban the guy selling "an Orca" (in fact a blueprint), the guy buying a plex for 700 million (in fact 7 million) and the MARKET EPIC FAIL (margin trade scam) guy and you'll be amazed at how uncluttered your Local becomes. I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?

If you send me any amount of ISK, I will keep it.
By doing this, its only a scam if I give it back. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

notice how the word and the question mark have extra quotations around them. That means you actually have to include the extra quote marks when typing the word as well. Very devious |

And don't forget the character limit for the reason. Not sure what it is but imagine if all the rules amounted to a required reason that would never fit. |
