It's possible I'm missing something in how the PI flow works, but I'm pretty sure I'm losing resources. I'm working on my alt, (al PI skills at 4). I've got an extactor out, running 10 heads, routed to storage, then to a basic processor, then to the launch pad.
I'm running a two day cycle on the heads, but I'm filling up my storage faster than the processor runs its schematic and pushes the goods out to the launch pad.
I added a 2nd processor, bot it's still not keeping up with the output from my extractor.
Do people just run short cycles on their extractors, then sit back until their storage units are empty before starting up the extactor again? I thought I could keep extrac tors running for a full week, but that doesn't seem to work.
Am I doing something wrong, am I missing something obvious, or is this the way it is supposed to work?
thanks in advance. |

Depending on if this is High sec, Low, Null/WH (you do not state which), you will need 3 or 4 processors. "He has mounted his hind-legs, and blown crass vapidities through the bowel of his neck."-á - Ambrose Bierce on Oscar Wilde's Lecture in San Francisco 1882 |

sorry, it's in low sec. |

even more processors then :)

I don't measure my extractors by the time they take to diminish, but by the cycle time for the heads to pull minerals out. 15 minutes, 1/2 hour...all the way up to 4 hours.
Like Gilbaron said, T1 processors consume 6000 units per hour, so it's simply a matter of looking at how much your extractors pull in an hour and figuring out whether or not the number of processors you have are able to clear out that load of materials before the next load is delivered from your extractors.
I started with quick extraction cycles, but switched to 4 hour extraction cycles because the math worked better andmy processors have plenty of time to work. |

This is my lazy setup, that I use for lowsec/nullsec Extraction:
Extractor - AP - AP - BP - BP - BP - SP - BP - BP - BP - AP - Extractor.
AP == Advanced Processor BP == Basic Processor SP == Space Port.
You need to extract 18k / hour out of each Extractor to keep all three AP's running full time. If you are low skilled, drop one of the AP chains (i.e. 2x BP's and an AP) to run only 2x AP chains.
Either way, this requires exporting your P2 Goods from the planet about once a week or more. If you have extra PG, like I usually do, there are lots of additional things you may do, from adding a storage facility (thereby giving you enough storage to pickup once every 3 weeks or so) and/or add more AP processors to make additional P1 or P2 or P3 with the resoucres you extract.
This isn't the most efficient use of the system, but is a great balance between how often you need to mess with it (I do 1 day extraction cycles), how often you need to pickup the PI (I pickup once every other week), and profitability (1.5-3m isk/planet/day).
