Hi all,
Returning player/new toon here. I left just as the re-balances were to be rolled out.
After some reading it looks like minnies are no long 'winmatar'. This is a good thing in my mind as it was rather annoying seeing all the 'select winmatar if you want to win' crap.
So onto the real question. Which of the races now has the best balance of ships from frigs to caps etc. I plan of training only one race for the time being and I'm wondering what race would allow me to do the most variety of roles etc with the new balanced ships etc. Obviously T2 ships will be some time off but I'm a patient player :)
Cheers and fly safe o7 |

Gallente seems strongest in the current meta which means Gallente will be nerfed next, so you should train Amarr or Caldari. Oh god. |

Gallente have the best subcaps, Amarr and Gallente the best capitals.

Chiming in on the Gallente love, they're almost back to their pre 2007 dominance. |

So gallente are 'the' race to be now then?
Hmmm this rebalancing makes the choice more difficult as the differences seem more subtle. |

That's the point of rebalancing. Fozzie and Rise have, so far, done a decent job at it simply because they actually understand the game unlike many other or previous DEVS.

I was just about to ask something very similar - I've just returned to the game after about 6 years away and am sitting spinning ships in my hangar and wondering why all the slots have changed.
How have the different weapon systems changed? Is anything in particular flavour of the month? Anything been nerfed into uselessness? |

Really depends what class of ship your asking about.
For battleships, flavour of the month are either Drones Boats or Marauders. Armageddon/Dominix are currently high DPS and potentially very low tank requirement given the MJD usage. Marauders got an awesome buff recently with Bastion Module which makes them the best L4's mission runners around.
I wouldn't say anything in the BS category is useless, sure some ships are very good right now, but all have some sort of niche depending on skills and what region your in! |

I'm thinking of more of a whole of race thing. I'e which race has the most flexible line up. I suspect that they all have similar flexiblity across the entire selection of ship for each race.
Guess it's going to come down to which ship I like the looks of best. |

All race are viable. It really depends on your preference. Choose one then stick with it. Its not about the ships, its about you and the guys you fly with. |

If you're looking for flexibility, Gallente is definitely where its at. They can go shield, armor, short range, long range, utility (with droneboats), they have good ewar bonuses (damps and points), they can be fast or brick tanked, the list goes on and on really. |

Sentry drones are fotm, so Gal win there.
Medium Rails got a large buff and are very good right now, and Gal can use those.
The changes to active tank rigs (PG increase rather than speed reduction) also benefited Gal more than most.
For me the three stand out pure combat Gal ships would be the Comet, Ishtar and Dominix. |

Ah Cool. Looks like Gallente is moving on up the list.
looking at he changes to armour rigs etc for the active tanking side how does that fair with the amarr now? They look to have had a decent boost in their speed etc and the resist bonus used to be thought of better than an active tank bonus. Has the meta changed now?
Also looking at the up coming amarr mass/inertia changes it seems like they will be less affected by plating the crap out of them in the future. Hmm fast moving bricks?
I guess as a race they are still pretty inflexible with their limited mids though. Not that I believe they all 'need' more mids.
Hmm choices choices. |

Strongest ship and race is honestly meaningless.
Someone that knows their ship, skills, and tactics will win over the favorite of the month. Always.
So fly what you love. Do remember some fleets have doctrines for either armor or shield, keep that in mind. |

Gallente masterrace
They aren't really overpowered though, their bonuses and slot layouts are just very well balanced and versatile. Especially if we are considering solo pvp. BYDI recruitment closed-ish |
