Hi,
I've downloaded EVE from the subscribe banner at the main page three times.
Every time when I double click the .exe the following happens.
Quote: "Please wait while setup is loading", then goes from 0 to 100% After this I get an error message that says: "NSIS Error" "The installer you are trying to use is either corrputed or incomplete. This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.
You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.
It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED)" (Ok)
I've downloaded the file to two diferent hard drives (on the same computer), I doubt there's any virus on my system, and running the .exe /NCRC began the install but it failed at: Extract: resDungeons.stuff...26%
Might be on my side, but might be worth to check the downloadable file. Especially since users without an account can't post on the forum to let you know of the problems :) (atleast that used to be the case).

If you use a manager make sure it is not using saved parts of the file (from the previous downloads of the client) to make the download faster and/or save the file in a different location.
If it is not the case try to get the same form a friend and compare them and try to install. See what happens.
Other than that I have no clue.
I just realise you might have done that allready but it's to late to cancel this post :D

6 days ago i had no issues with downloading the file, either here at work or at home.
both times no issue.
i know thats not any real help, but the file does appear to be OK. At least it was 6 days ago.

i had a CRC error a while back with my comp while installing a game. Cant remember which, after several attempts I gave up. i had to restart my comp anyway and tried later on that day and it worked fine. So im not sure if that corrected as it was a temporary problem or my comp was being subborn because it did some updates or something! lol

Edited by: Naichi on 21/04/2006 12:15:21 Edited by: Naichi on 21/04/2006 12:13:10 When it comes to CRC errors for files it can be a few things
Most common
1: Downloadmanagers somehow currupts files if aborted due download and then resume download again. 2: Zonealarm is a NoNo 3: Corrupt file at site. 4: Corrupt memory, cache memory. "if it's cache/memory or other hardware reletated errors, your computer get random error all the time, Most common is Windows is crashing and program stops working. Or some wierd error message not even god can explain. Best way to check Hardware releated errors is to create a huge ZIP/RAR file "200Mb+". then try to umcompress it a few times. If it works 100% of 10 runs try start a resource heavy program and then run it 10 times again.
If that file fails 10/10 it probably became corrupted when you created it so is it Hardware releated. If that file fails some times when decompress it's hardeware releated alterntive you could have a virus but such virus that infest executable files is not very common.
A Error free computer can run for Weeks without any major crashes. execept there is any third part programs interupting. Which means a clean install that starts to behave wierd is just a proof a bad computer

I've got this same nsis problem. Tried bypassing it by going to start-> run-> "Z:\Firefox\EVE_3900.exe" /NCRC but in the middle of the installation windows encountered a problem and needed to shut it down.

One thing it could also be is your version of windows XP. Do you have a pirated version or a legit version? I am going to assume its a pirated version as I get the same errors. I never did get these errors on the version of windows 2k I used to use.
I doubt its your hardware as someone else suggested a few posts ago as others have complained of this same issue. All of us cant have bad hardware.
Find yourself another copy of windows XP and to be safe, a legit corporate key or buy a copy of XP.
