Hi, I am wondering what is a good choice of a Gallente Cruiser for lvl 2 agent missions? I prefer bigger weapons to more tactical stuff such as EW.
Also can someone tell me how lvl 3 missions are like? What kind of ship is needed to complete those missions?
What's the best class of solo ship? (is it Heavy Assult Cruiser?)
Thanks

Edited by: Blakkon Darkthorn on 21/04/2006 15:41:57 You cant go wrong with the Vexor, all Gallente ships use drones, but three really take advantage of them: the Vexor Cruiser, the Dominix BS, and the Ishkur Assault frigate.
Vexor has a big drone bay, drone damage bonuses and costs a bit more than half of a Thorax. It has good damage, especially once your drone skills start to accumulate, and can fit a decent armor tank.
If you are set on just guns, then the thorax is probably a better fit for you.
The exequeror is better for mining or fast movement of lots of goods (with a 10mn mwd mine gets over 1000m/s carrying 1500 m3 cargo), 1500m/s carrying 840m3. The celsestis is the EW ship.
For level 3 missions you are well served by the Brutix (Gallentre Battlecruiser). Do level 2's while working on cruiser skills in a Vexor or Thorax. Since the Brutix fits cruiser modules you will be ready for level 3's once 2's become trivial.

Thanks. Another question: I heard that one should 'armour tank' Gallente ships because they have more base armour to start with.
I am not comfortable with this idea because armour is closer to structure compared to shield. But anyways, what moudles can I fit to a ship to increase armour, besides the armour repairer???

I wouldn't try level 3's in a cruiser unless you have a lot of skill points in Drones, Gunnery, Mechanic and Electronics
I am a 1.4mil skill point toon and am just about comfortable in a Brutix doing level 3's. I still need to improve on other skills to be truely happy with it though.

I am by no means an expert, but on my Brutix I use:
1600mm plate (you might need engineering 5 to load it though) medium armour repairer Energised Nan plating (the 15% one) Hull upgrades 4 (soon to be 5)

Gallente are for armor tanking because they have more lower slots. If you have more medium slots, then you would go with shield tanking.
As for level 2 missions, I did them on a thorax. It was fine, but of course you should also try the vexor, as the previous post had implied. It's really just a matter of getting comfortable with the ship.
For lvl 3, going with the brutix is good, however, you need to have enough skill points in order to fly it in to lvl 3 mission. DO NOT hurry getting to lvl 3 unless you are certain you can do it. If you loose your ship and you do not have isk's to replace it, you would start from zero again.
You can try it and see hot it goes.

I use a thorax, and on my first level 2 mision it was awsome! Altho i am a big fan of the long range railguns, ive switched the 'Blasterax' which is a Thorax fitted for close combat with blasters. You use a eavy armor tank with all bottom slots filled with resistance plating and maybe armor plating, but you must have a repair system to maintain your tank. It works really well especially if oyu know what type of damage your enemies will do. If you would like to evemail or convo me ingame feal free to and i will explain it more in depth.

Armor and shield tank is solely based on number of slots in low or mid respectively. Certain ships get bonuses for one tank or the other. The Brutix has an armor repairer bonus, for example. So you if thats your target it will help you to know how to do that anyways.
There are alot of posts about tanking, so I won't go into lots of details but with 4 lows on a Vexor I would go with something like the following:
high: 5 guns (biggest rails you can fit after lows and mids filled) or 4 guns and a tractor beam once your drones skills are high.
Med: Afterburner, 2 cap rechargers
Low: Medium armor Repairer, 3 rat specific armor hardeners (eg. against serpentis use 2 kinetic and 1 thermal) or if you want to go passive, 3 adaptive nano membrances.
For drones I would go 5 medium and 5 small. Again pick damage type based on your opponent. Valkries and warriors do explosive and are decent all around drones.
Once you are satisfied with your skills for the Vexor you can consider the Brutix and level 3's.

Active hardeners. Best investment of skilltime ever.
You need a battlecruiser, or a lot of personal and character skill to use a cruiser in level 3 missions.
