Hey folks,
Very tempted to get my own little POS and start doing some manufacturing out of it. Little confused about the best way to attain standing with the Amarr empire and exactly what standings I need?
From what I understand, in a 0.6 system I would need 6.00 raw standing with the Amarr empire on the chosen character. Is this correct?
What is the best way to attain standing with Amarr?
Cheers for the help folks,

The fastest, easiest way is to buy a corporation with the standings you want. There are several threads in sell orders to that effect.
Short of that, know that you have to have a corporation with 6.0 empire standings for 0.6 space, so you're going to have to leave your NPC corp anyhow. The fastest way to grind standings yourself would be to run COSMOS missions and data centers. For more ideas, see here. |

Bear in mind that a small POS will set you back around 100 million a month in fuel. Unless the amount you can make at the POS exceeds what you could make in a station by that or more (as a result of the 0.75 time multiplier), the POS will be making a loss. |

Generally, highsec POS's are more coveted for Copy and ME research slots. Highsec stations have very long wait lists, where as a Lab or Adv Lab can provide you immediate access to Copy and ME lines (which also get a bonus to improve copy and ME research rates). This is extremely handy in t2 production.

Standing requirements for a POS are corporation based, and corporation standings are based on player standings before skills, with the average of players faction standings not counting players with no standings.
Best way to start is by doing the datacenter tag handins. There are roughly 20 of these one time missions that require you to hand in a number of tags (amarr uses Sansha and True Sansha tags). You can buy these off the market but it gets expensive, roughly 500M-800M isk for all the tags the last time I checked.
You can also do the sisters of eve mission chain every 3 months which lets you choose a faction towards the end you want the faction standing gains which is quite high.
There are also cosmos missions but these are a pain/take forever and IMO you're better off grinding missions for storyline missions. |

A POS is a corporation asset, not a personal asset. To anchor a POS, you need to be in a player corporation, and the standings between the Amarr empire and that corporation must be above 6.0 for your 0.6 system.
Corporation standings are the average unmodified standings of all the players who have been in that corporation for more than 7 days.
The most straightforward way to gain standings is to run a ton of missions for Amarr corporations. Every 16 missions you run, you get a "Storyline Mission." When you run that storyline mission, you get a boost to your Amarr standings. As you can see, it will take a lot of missions to get Amarr standings up to 6.0. So people above have guides to shortcuts.
But really, the easiest way is to buy a corporation from another player who already has good enough standings. He makes the corporation, and 7 days later the new corporation will be updated to have his standings. Then you join it, he makes you CEO, and drops out. You then have until the next downtime to anchor your tower. (At downtime, standings are updated.)
Once the tower is anchored, you may anchor and unanchor all the modules you want on that tower regardless of standings.
The downside to paying someone for standings is that you may need to do it again in the future. If your operation grows to the point where your small tower is not big enough, or you want a second tower, you will need to pay someone with good standings to join you, and kick out everyone with low standings. Or make a second corp and transfer all the assets. But you have time to think about how you will cross that bridge when you come to it. |

a highsec pos gives you 30% more profit in manufacturing when you use the correct assembly arrays.
however, building in a POS means more than 30% more effort
if 30% more profit is more than you pay for the POS and you can justify the effort, go ahead ! GRRR Goons |

If you plan on T2 manufacturing then a POS is essential, t1 manufacturing is normally easier and more effective in station except for limited circumstances.
T2 manufacturing requires a POS because you'd never be able to effectively create enough bpcs with the long wait lines in station.
As for things POSs can do it includes, building, refining (in lowsec and 0.0/wh only, and generally to wasteful to do), blueprint research/copying, safe spot from enemies (i.e. a deathstar), moon mining (lowsec/0.0 only), reactions (0.0 lowsec, and wh space only), alchemy (same restrictions as reactions), and likely even more things that I am forgetting. I once podded myself by blowing a huge fart. |

A minor consideration: 0.6 may require lower standings, but it's also a lot cheaper to gank a freighter there.
If you're shipping lots around regularly, it can be worth plotting routes that keep you in 0.8+ the whole way to your preferred hub. |

You can only stand a high-sec POS in a 0.7 system or lower. The cost is about 4 million a day for a small, 8 for a medium, and 16 for a large. No point to building a larger POS than needed.
If you are going to grind standings yourself, get your Social skill up as that effects the raw standing you get (Connections is only a modifier and doesn't count for the crop standing you need). Since a large amount of standing comes from storyline missions you'll want to blitz level 3 security missions if you have the ability. Doing faction missions also is a faster way, but some people are against that.
Do not forget to do the Sisters of EVE arc (I think you can do it every six months?) for standings. There is also the one-time increase of selling tags to COSMOS agents.
Then again you could buy a corp premade. I don't know what the going rate currently is, I've paid 200 million in the past. |

A premade corp is the way to go unless you are close to the standings needed. It costs about 200m for a premade corp with the standings. Finding a open moon within a decent number of jumps from a trade hub is another matter. I am currently running a Caldari medium with 4 labs and 6 equipment assembly arrays for 4 toons. That gives me plenty of copy and invention slots and 36 assembly lines to build those T2 modules. If more labs are needed you can always drop assembly arrays. Equipment assembly arrays build faster than a station for the same material cost. I would recommend building ships in a npc station though if you go that route. |

If you don't understand blueprints and you're not already running most/all of your factory slots 24/7, you probably shouldn't be running a POS. I suggest joining another industry corporation that owns a POS and having them show you the ropes. |

You need to read the latest dev blogs and probably wait until after the summer expansion is implemented which will likely be in May or June at the very latest. In all likelihood the changes that are planned will make use of high sec POSes uneconomic at best. |

You should probably wait until after the summer expansion, and see how the economy adapts, flourishes, flushes or simply shrugs at all the Indy changes... obvious manipulations notwithstanding.

On a side note (not sure if anyone mentioned this), if you're anywhere near a high-traffic corridor you'll probably get wardec'd by one of those ******* corps that wardecs purely to pad their killboard with small tower kills. Get a large, d!ckstar it, and go from there. If you're serious about Industry the costs won't matter since (presumably) you'll have your plan & markets in place.
If you're not serious just find a low sec station with services, move the materials and a jump clone there, and work out of that station. "Blow it all on Quafe and strippers." --- Sorlac |
