Problem started yesterday, but I was able to close the client the couple of times it happened and log in and it would work the second time. Today I have tried logging in multiple times and I get to the authenticating screen and the bar just sits halfway completed. I've waited for up to 30 minutes, and attempted to log in 4 or 5 times. I have a mid 2010 macbook pro and OSX 10.9.2. Saw that multiple people were having trouble with this as well that were running windows. |

I'm getting this same issue after the latest patch (MacBook Pro, 2013, Nvidia GT650, 10.9.2, Steam EVE client) - I get stuck on authenticating, however I'm also noticing that it kills my connections to everything else I have running on the computer, so Skype calls, browsers, etc. go "offline" until I close out of the EVE client.
No issues with the game last night. |

Was able to fix it (not sure why this did it but hey) by hitting ESC when I was getting that error, switching the game out of full screen to windowed, applying, and then relaunching the game. Hopefully yours is fixed soon as well. |

Wow that actually worked thanks a lot! I opened it in windowed mode then switch to fullscreen once the character selection came up and it works fine. |

Same problem, but for me the escape key does nothing damn thing is locked up good, tried everything so far and no solution. So I intalled the pc version via wine as described in another thread, working well that way so far.
Is it so hard. To make a decent mac client? They must be selling more macs than windows 8 pcs these days? There is one EvE. Many people. Many lifestyles. WE are EvE |

I am having the same issue, getting stuck on "Authenticating"... hitting the ESC key got me bumped into char selection last night, but now it locks up my MacBook Pro entirely and I have to do a hard shutdown
Does anyone have a good work around? Hitting the ESC only locks me up entirely.. so that isn't working.
It just seems like EVERY SINGLE PATCH we have to deal with this crap! EVERY TIME! I have got a cable modem recently, and was hoping it would really improve lag and such things, but apparently it can't do anything about shoddy programming
Is CCP aware of this issue?? |

I submitted a ticket, so hopefully this will get fixed in a few days. Good thing I have lots of time left on my queue. |

Clearing the cache files fixes the issue, however only for a few days. once the issue comes again clear it again, hopefully CCP will review this. |

I am also getting this issue. My client stops at the "authenticating" stage of the "logging in" page. Pressing ESC doesn't have any effect either. I tried clearing the cache and reinstalling the client but the problem still persists. Does opening the game in window mode still work? |

Have been getting the same issue and 'fixing' it also by getting out go full-screen mode and restarting the game.
Authentication seems to take very long on first launch. Second time around it's fast. Could it be that loading game elements and authenticating are causing problems? |

Also getting stuck at authenticating. Deleted my cache, but that did not help. I got to log on once last night, but my mouse wouldn't move unless I alt-tabbed twice and moved my mouse in between. Tedious... but I could start training a long skill... |

Unfortunately, the only solution i found was to totally uninstall the client and wipe every imaginable cache and setting. One full reinstall later no further problems.
The pc client under wine also works, but I was a bit wary to stay with that, so it is on as a backup just in case. There is one EvE. Many people. Many lifestyles. WE are EvE |

Here's what fixed the issue for me (at least so far):
From a terminal window I switched into this directory and removed all cache files from within this directory. Note it DID clobber all my settings.
~/Library/Application Support/EVE Online/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/
I did a an "rm -dfr *" (w/o the "'s), be warned be in the correct directory to do this or you'll be sad faced with what gets deleted. |

I have the exact same problem. I am currently sitting next to my PC and can instantly connect to the server (good job CCP) and I try to connect wireless on my 2014 macbook pro and I eat endless authentication errors.
FIX THIS OR YOU GUYS STOLE GAME TIME FROM ME. Ask if I'll sue. Oh, indeed. |

For all those having issues, please file bug reports, either in game or via this link: https://community.eveonline.com/support/submit-bug-report/
When making the bug report, copy-paste a link to this forum thread too, this way they see that others are having similar issues and what everyone is doing to try and resolve the problem. |

I have had this problem for months, and has gotten progressively worse since it started. This last week it has become near impossible to log in without spending 30+ minutes attempting and reattempting to log in.
I have tried every 'fix' that has been posted on this forum, and nothing has worked. However, I will admit I am no computer whizz, but I don't see why paying customers should have to mess around with game folders to try and make the game work.
I'm unsubbing my 3 accounts until CCP get their fingers out of their asses and fix this. |

Yea, something has changed since last weeks patch. I can still get in game, but authenticating went from taking a few seconds to around 40 on average for me.
Client feels a bit sluggish in game too. |

I was earlier having the same issue where client stuck to authentication, and now it turned worse. I cannot log in at all.
I can't even get the Authenticating screen. The screen just stays black, and nothing happens. I need to kill the process with CMD+ALT+ESC. |

Clearing cache out of game didn't work for me, but I loaded the game without the initial log in screen, and cleared cache from the ESC menu which worked.
You lot probably know how to do this but incase you dont, Applications/Eve Online/Contents/Resources/Eve Online, this will load Eve the old way, meaning you can access to ESC menu without logging in.
Hope this works for you lads. |
