i dont usually watch the forum so mabe this was a recent change. i've been playing around with a thanatos recently cause im close to getting one. in my "testing" of fits and finding the weak points i realized carriers only have 6 max locks. this confused me. some fun facts about other ships max locks to see how the carrier stacks up.
Logistic ships 10 max locks, Battleships 7 max locks, battlecruisers 7 max locks, cruisers 6 max locks, destroyers 7 max locks.
the carrier essentially being a capital logistic ship one would think it would at least have the same amount of locks as the logistic ship. Carriers being slow a locking makes the amount of lock pretty important. especially for the chimera and archon because they cap chain which ties up at least 1 lock. same as the basi and guadian.
if there is some reason for the carrier having the number of locks it has im all ears, mabe im missing some point. this seems very odd to me.

yeah, i've been wondering about stuff like this also, cuz how can a little cruiser lock as much targets as a 4km big ship? :S you would think the 4km big ship would have an awesome targetting system... |

In particular, the OP's criticism is a constraint on Pantheon setups...and dropping a remote rep or cap transfer for an auto-targeter isn't exactly the most pleasant-sounding idea.
Besides: the maximum that can be achieved with max skills is 12 targets, not the 10-target hull limit of Logis and Triage Carriers. A T1 autotargeter or T2 sigamp on a 10-target hull is required to achieve 12 locked targets. |

yea sry i seem to have a nac for constantly posting in the wrong place.
and i forgot about the triage since i cant use it yet i didnt think to look. i asked around about it and came to find out carriers have always had 6 locks. it would still be nice if it had 8 like i thought it had. and mabe leave the triage module the same and at least have one ship in the game able to use the full 12 locks if skills are high enough.
the triage is nice but still remains a death sentance most times it is used. and no matter how you look at it, still pretty pathetic that a carrier can only lock as many as a T1 cruiser and less than a T1 destroyer.
heck mabe even just give it 10 max locks and remove the triage lock bonus. if it did change to 10 max lock i dont see it changing the way a carrier is used. i would love to see this change and im sure many others would too. |
