EVE Online: Rubicon 1.3 is scheduled to be released tomorrow on March 12th. There are a lot of balance changes coming into Rubicon 1.3, and CCP Rise has written a dev blog to detail them.

Wonder if those changes to the Nestor will really make much of a difference. Have yet to undock mine because right now, they're just gank bait with the prices being high as they are. Hopefully they become more popular with the changes, and make the prices drop so it makes it feasible to actually fly around. |

Reposting part of this response from the discussion thread on Drone Assist, as I don't think it ever got addressed. Just setting a hard cap of 50 is a lazy fix, and will introduce more problems that haven't potentially been addressed.
Quote:OK so real questions hopefully about this change that need answering. Hopefully these issues were already discussed and solutions planned to be implemented with the change. Please don't introduce a problem and then promise to "iterate" a solution later. That hasn't worked so well for the Rapid Missile Launchers, as seen by the ongoing threadnaughts.
When you assist drones to another player currently, there's no way to tell who has drones assisted to you, and how many, other than that the drones cluster around that pilot's ship. It wasn't as important, since there was no limit. However now, this raises some concerns now that we have to micromanage the assists to fit the limit, and need some tools and UI tweaks to be able to do that.
How will a "drone bunny" know who has drones assisted to them, and how many?
a. Will there be an indication in the fleet window, such as a drone icon, that will show members who have drones assisted to them? This would be helpful for quick reference, if the intention in fleet is to only have drones assisted to one person per squad.
b. Will there be an expanded group in the Drone UI for the "drone bunny" to show a summary of the number of currently Assisted Drones so they will easily know once they've reached their limit of 50?
c. Will the "drone bunny" have the ability to force unassist of drones from a player who assigned them incorrectly, or will lazy/incompetent fleet members DDOS the assist cap, requiring further micromanagement?
How will the drone owner know what is going on with their assisted drones?
a. If a fleet member attempts to assist their drones to a "drone bunny" who has already reached the 50 drone cap, will they get an error message?
b. Can the successful assist be verified by having the Drone UI show "Assisted to X" as the current Drone status, as well as showing if it is Idle, Returning, Engaging, etc? If only some of the drones are assigned, will the player be able to tell which are assigned and which aren't?
Will drone assist be fixed so it works properly in Lowsec with Crimewatch? Currently my assisted drones never attack when the "drone bunny" fires. I know others have mentioned problems, and I've submitted bug reports for this.
Will this behavior be brought to EWAR and Logistics drones as well? |

So, i imagine the unlisted change to EVE is allowing Erebus' the ability to fart a legion of Domis now? I could be dense and missing the relevance of said picture, but there's my interpretation. |

Possibly a reference to the largest reason drone assist mechanics were changed :x |

Will check out the cap changes on my Nestor after the patch, it is kind of embarrassing that you can't even use large RR on it in a fitting that is useful enough to make it a option over a normal armor logi.
The Nestor still needs 10 lockable target slots, similar to other logis to free up another high slot, that it currently has to use for a auto targeting device. It could use a bit more scan resolution than you put on it today in my opinion, but I welcome the change in that direction. |

(Assigning your drones, is or at least should be the same as engaging a target yourself. The permission for the drones to engage is implied when you assign them.)

Great News
... just, I don't like black, grey, maroon and all the other camouflage colors. I would have loved to paint my ship in red with white emblem or blue with yellow or whatever ... simply chromatic colors.

CCP Rise, when are you going to fix rapid launchers? This is your blog update, so are you going to respond or just continue to ignore the issue in the hopes we all go away? I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week. |

As a wormholer, the Nestor still isn't desirable to me. I just made a fit on EFT and although it has great rep power the down sides make me question a) should i just use a guardian/basilisk with great rep range and sig tank ability and b) if i'm going to use a BS in wormhole pvp, would a bhaalgorn/ vindicator be more useful.
Nice effort but i wish the ship was designed by someone with the balls to put a cloak on it.
With regards to the drone assist change, if i were running the show at CCP, i would make it so only one sub cap could assign drones to me but a max of 50 carriers could assign their drones to me.
What is the point of giving BS low scan res for balancing reasons, if a ship like the dominix can give all its dps to a insta-locking friend?
One another note, the d-scan change is nice! +1 |
