Tanking, ganking, nos, blobs, nerfing, carebears...etc etc...
There is probably lots of interesting and useful stuff here but understanding it without understanding the language isn't easy. Is there a glossary or guide for noobies to this language anywhere ?

There is no good one out there that I am aware of. Though if you look around you can find isolated ones here and there.
Tanking - Being able to absorbe damage and continue the fight. Normaly done in a number of ways but inclide; Improved rediced to lower the damage taken, stronger armor/shields, quickly repairing the damage, and avoiding it. Note most ships Armor or Shield tank, you dont want to try and do both. Normaly you used increased resists with repair systems, but some people prefer to have stronger defensive systems (more hp).
Ganking - Depends on who you ask. Normaly its killing someone in a totaly over matched way. BS Snipping a Indy, or a group of 5-6 people attacking 1 person.
Blobs - Concentrated fire for the win. The best tactic is to get as many ships stacked in a group and fire at one target. A blob is a concentration of many ships in the same system/area.
Nerfing - What people cry about when their toy is changed. Normaly when something over-powered is adjusted to match the game, but people cry about this often when there is ANY change done that may be good or bad.
Carebears - An F-nuts term for people that prefer not to engage in PVP.

If you search for "glossary" through the search function in the upper right you'll find a link in one of the posts on the first list.
Tanking = Being the designated target for NPC's while in a gang, or just general "tanking damage" term. Tank in itself usually refers to the sort of damage absorption setup your ship has, armor tank, shield tank etc...
Ganking = Killing a player.
Nos = Nosferatu modules, they're energy vampires.
Blobs = Pretty sure this refers to a massive fleet, "blob of enemies"
Carebears = Players who tend to "play nice" and avoid the pvp aspects of the game.

Ah, but I missed the NOS part.. so speed isnt everything. :)

check out the Lexicon it has a good amount of the abbverations in there
