What does adware have to do with the rapid heavy missile launcher?

So CCP sold space for an ad selling eve stuff for which I'm sure they get money for every product these other guys sell. If this gets CCP more money to work towards making eve better and all I have to sacrifice is a little space on the launcher that I normally don't look at I'm all for it. Why are you complaining? |

If this is all you can find to moan about I can only guess that CCP must have done pretty good with 1.3. ... |

Also, chill out man it's a small box that no-one forces you to look at. Congrats, I didn't expect anyone to catch on quite that early. It did attract the attention of at least 4 people in this thread alone leading to 2 sales and another possibility as a gift. Plus who knows how many visits and sales from people who hear about the crazy man's rage thread. There's no such thing as bad press, and even a rage can help CCP raise the capital it needs to upgrade Eve sometimes. What if New Eden was a virtual prison and we're convicts in a prison pod somehwere?

One of the things I have blocked is the launcher connecting to s3-1.amazonaws.com. What is amazonaws? Quote:amazonaws.com is a domain used by GetSatisfaction which is an widget company that is part of a network of sites, cookies, and other technologies used to track you, what you do and what you click on, as you go from site to site, surfing the Web. Over time, sites like amazonaws.com can help make an online profile of you usually including the sites you visit, your searches, purchases, and other behavior. Your profile can then be exchanged and sold between various companies like amazonaws.com as well as being sold to other advertisers and marketers.

Hagbard Solaris wrote:Long ago, when CCP first introduced its "new" borked launcher, there were threadnaughts raging at CCP for ignoring customer feedback and releasing a bugged launcher. Nobody could figure out why CCP would introduce a known buggy launcher, until users hit on the idea that CCP would be selling ad space on the launcher to spam its users with non-CCP items. Here is my post on that thread: Launcher is Adware Today I see an ad for some drive through company I've never heard of before trying to sell me Eve themed playing cards. I went on record back in May of 2013 saying that I have no tolerance for a gaming company spamming me with ads when I pay for their products, because CCP should be developing Eve not selling ad space to any company that's willing to pay in hopes of getting my credit card number. So, I sent an email to this company telling them what I thought of their unwanted spam, and what I thought of their company for forcing it upon me, and my intent to never purchase anything from them. I humbly request that anyone else that believes that a game launcher should launch a game not spam ads at users do the same. Just click on their link in the launcher and go to the contact us page on their website. If, as in some marketing arrangements, they have to pay CCP for every user that gates to their site through the launcher then it will even cost them money to find out that we don't want ads, we want Eve. ******* renters, man. Yet another business falls to the seductions of 'Big Playing Card'
Is there no hope to resist the military-pokerplaying complex?! One of the oldest mission players in EVE designed a chart that explains stat priority in regards to mission running, compared Alpha, DPS, Ship Speed and Sig Radius and scores them. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m24dbrfuWn1r86ax8o1_1280.jpg |

Thanks for the heads up! I usually just bypass the launcher, but if they're going to put cool stuff like that in the launcher i might actually start using it again. |
