Hello.
I've been in the game for more then a year now and since I spent most of my time in 0.0 and ratting there my security status rose accordingly.
I have now reached a bit over 5.0 and since then I did not gain anything at all.
I contacted customer support because I thought it was a bug. It was tough and cost many emails to explain the situation - they don't seem to look into your account-data anymore, you have to tell them EVERYTHING about your character - which is very clumsy.
Anyway, what I understood is that starting from 5.0 the secrity status increases slow down alot. They told me it would take me a year of very-high-end ratting to even get to 6.0. Another thing I did not know was that rats only give security status increase to a certain level of your own security status. See http://support.eve-online.com/cgi-bin/eve_online.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=585 for details.
My question is (what customer support could not explain to me (clearly, at least) and I am sick of asking them again just to find them responding rather generically): Is there a list of (all) Rats and up to which security status they give out a security status gain? Do the not give out any gain at all after that?
I have not gained any security status (that is: NONE AT ALL=no increase log in my chracter sheet) since 18.3.2006 even though I have done many rats ranging between 500k and 1250k bounty. I have even done one shadow serpentis ship with over 7 Million on bounty. Should't I at least get a very small security status bonus from those? (See the response below for reason.)
Heres a section of their last response (translated from German): What concerns an increase of the Security Standing, it slows down conciderably after reaching a level of 5.0 and above. Then it does not really matter which pirate fraction you fight. According to the formula the increase of points decrease strongly and values of about 0.0001 or similar will now be added. This is accomplished by fighting pirates in complexes, and only by the last big pirates who give out about 10 million isk bounty can you expect an increase of security status.
If you thus already have over 5.0 of security status - your character Morke has already 5.003 and so are one of the characters whith the highest security status in the game. It is very difficult to get higher and could cost you a whole year of hunting pirates in low security or complexes against large pirate npcs to reach a value of 6.0. Those NPC priates are configured up to a certain amount of security status. Your attempt to still gain increase will be a hard one, but you can comfort yourself that you already belong - from the sides of Concord - to the most highly rated pilots of EVE.
This does not clearly explain to me if I will only get security status from very-very high-end pirates with bounties as high as 10 million or if I can also expect some (lesser) amount from the usual amount in the range of 500k to 1250k I described.
Can someone explain? Is it a bug that I did not get ANY security status in almost one-and-a-half months of pirate killing?

May I just ask why you want a Sec standing higher than 5 ? -----------------------
This signature got altered because it was way to sexy and uber. If you want to know why don't ask. We're still horny. |

5.0 is a sort of maximum.
From what I understand the only way you get increases now is from commander or officer spawns.

Hi, Im relatively new to EVE but I think just being a second pair of eye's looking at this may help just a tiny bit. According to this: (Heres a section of their last response (translated from German): What concerns an increase of the Security Standing, it slows down conciderably after reaching a level of 5.0 and above. From a security status of 5.0 on only the highest level pirates in complexes will give out a security increase of .0001 per pirate. You will not receive an increase for any other type of pirate anywhere else in EVE. You must be in a complex and to get the .0001 increase you must kill the highest level pirate in that complex. That's the way I understand what they've said.

I was just frustrated at not getting any security status anymore. I thought the rats I did were pretty high end already, so not getting any security status from them was unjust. I'd expected at least a tiny bit of increase, like the mentioned 0.0001.
Officer spawns are extremely very uber rare. In my one year in 0.0 I have never seen a single one. And the end bosses mentioned in the complexes are very hard to get at - you need a fleet of battleships to get there.
Also the frequency of Shadow Serpentis spawns has dropped considerably since RMR: i've only seen two in all those months.

Iam not sure how the sec status is working past 5.0
Iam there a long time now, i got a very few sec increases for 0.16% or 0.2%, i think this have been some shadow serp NPCs. But i got some other sec increases in the range of 0.0087% to 0.0675% and i have no clue from which ones this was coming.
