Hy, I came to suggest the creation of a brazilian server for EVE (like the chinese one), I agree that we dont have many brazilian players to justify its creation and neither lag problens caused by brazilian players. But, I give the example of Ragnarok, the game created a brazilian server with brazilian play cards in brazilian currency. Many people said that the server was not going to work well, because of the few players from Brazil in the international servers. Today the server is crowed, the started with 2 and now the own 3 or 4.
CCP you guys are missiona huge market in Brazil. Mnay potencial customers dont know about EVE, and other who do know, dont play because of LAG, English Language and difficult to buy game cards.
but of course this is just a suggestion...

afaik Brazil dosent have lwas limiting the ammount of time you can play mmorpgs, one of the main reasons eve is special is because its on a single server

the only reason there is a chinease server is due to their laws governing the internet and MMog...which would make it impossible for them to play on tranq..without those laws in china they would be on tranq to...so no there will not be any other regional servers until ccp deicde to drop their single shard dream (which i hope they never do) _____ This is a Stain Alliance Fighter. I am talking about the potential more players, at least they could do a better translation of the game and sell game cards in Brazil and in brazilian currency, a few propaganda in TV would help also.

Wont happen. The chinese server was created mainly because: A) the massive influx of chinese people would ahve wrecked the social ecosystem and B) chinese law requires you to have localized servers that follow special regulation, or something along those lines.
The code which is being used for the translation for china will be put into TQ to allow for full game translations, so the interface language issue is only a question of time :)
As for gametime cards, it seems CCP is simply not interested in retail-store penetration at this time. Credit card and paypal will probably remain the only way to pay for the game with RL cash for a while. If youre good @ eve, you can always buy gametime cards for isk... ----------------

if brazilian players want in on EVE, they can play on our server. they don't have the requirements that the chinese have, or anywhere near as much playerbase potential.

Of course there can be a Brazilian server. Thing is, you need to find a company with a large amount of cash who are willing to go into partnership with CCP and set up servers in Brazil, etc.
That's...not very likely. But hey, you might know someone.

I'm sure CCP would sell the licensing of their game to as many other countries as possible if those countries really had investors & companies willing to do it. Easy money...
Kind of like how ID reaps the benefits from selling their Doom & Quake engines...
They would not be considered EVE however, they would be a different game...

Has anyone ever figured that the lag is one their side? I have had almost ZERO lag since the server update.

Actually, they clearedly stated that they'd do it.
Here, in fact.
Thanks. (PS, Forum Search ++)
They'd still be Eve. Or do you consider say City of Heros in Europe and America to be different games?

A major difference between EvE and your mainstream toy mmorpg is that EvE runs on _one_ unique server.
We have one world, one reputation, one set of politics and wars, one market situation and so on.
Many things that makes eve unique would be lost if we have 400 shards. The sense of realization would be gone.
China is another situation and another story. Let CCP grow the tranquility server as they do now, with a continuous controlled grow, which allow to update tranquility as the population increase.

Theres nothing stopping you sending in a text file with that majority of Eve Online translated into spanish or portugese (I can never remember which one it is Brazillians speak, or is it Brazillian? )
Anyway. I don't ever think that Eve will be broken up to anymore servers than it is. I don't think there is any company out there right now who would be willing to licence out a niche game and prehaps only end up seeing 500 players turning up from their specific country.
I never understood why developers in any niche game hasn't allowed/supported/sponsoured the community to help with local translations of the game, a community project to better the community and the game. --------------

Eve would have to be majorly shrunk down to be viable to support a player base like that.
My understanding of this game when it started all so long ago with 5k players tops on a peak times was it was very lonely, and even more so for those out in 0.0
And right now its still not so busy once you get of the beaten track (Which is really NOT that far, even in Empire)
I'm thinking gameplay here and not technically.
The Eve universe as it is, is too large for less than 10,000 players in my opinion. --------------

Edited by: Kadrush on 29/04/2006 02:30:41 I already changed my suggestion, my idea now is just CCP make a partnership with a local game company and this one with lan houses for:
-Selling game cards -Make some advestises on television -Promote gaming events and competitions
We are talking about a huge profitable market, CCP is losing money dont making use of its fully potential, and EVE is losing also many more subscribers.
All we need is the following.
-Selling game cards and eletronic game credit on lan houses. -A complete portuguese oficial EVE website -A brazilian download server, in an attemp to solve the problem with bugging the install file in a longe term download. -Box and magazine local game distribution. -Complete game translation to portuguese -People will keep playing on tranquility -Advertises on brazilian media, magazines and televison
I am not asking to CCP to do that, a partnership with a local company sharing the profits is already good enough.

Brazillians can play on Tranquility without problem. We don't need to make another server just for them. Other games do it but other games aren't eve.

You're wrong about the language stuff, in many countries people prefer games that are in their language. So CCP can probably get more players by translating EVE, though that wouldn't require another server.
