Hey folks!
Newest Valkyrie version (still touted as pre-alpha) at GDC via this link: http://evenews24.com/2014/03/22/gdc-2014-valkyrie-footage/
On one hand, the verbal cues might be helpful! On the other hand, hoo boy is that hud busy! Likewise, the fields of asteroids seem-- a bit much. I certainly like the idea of having more out there...? But fields of asteroids really don't capture the vastness and emptiness of space. I'd almost think a slightly less arcade angle, with 'boosted flight' across distances that are open to engage targets snuggled up with debris would better capture the feel. But, of course, I'm not a designer. ;) Priano Trans-Stellar is recruiting! Interested in nullsec combat? Research? Exploration? Damn, you were quicker then I posting this video :)
I was playing DUST from closed beta, or even late alfa stage, and I can say, that the graphics haven't changed dramatically. Well actually, I'm lying. The shaders have changed, so the graphics improved. But generally - what you see here in alpha footage - you will get in final product. Maybe a little bit prettier .
In all trailers we only saw Amarr and Minmatar fighters (and I think all other capital ships were also just Amarr and Minmatar). DUST is one year old, and we STIILL don't have all racial stuff. So if that will be true here, then we will not see Gallente and Caldari ships for a looong time.
For asteroids... From lore side, I think they are saying, that because there are so much asteroids, that only small one man piloted ships can go there. I think it's smart :) like gates in EVE Online - sometimes only smaller ships can go trough them.
From design side - I think they are making "maps" with asteroids. Because I think they were hiring map designers. |

We have some surprises up our sleeves to show off at EVE Fanfest ;) This footage is still from a game prototype where we are playing around with different ship types, game modes and such.
The look of the game is changing a lot, stay tuned ;)

"Lore wise" the asteroids in dense asteroid fields of well formed solar systes (i.e. with stable orbits already established) are hundreds of kilometers apart Read and support: Don't mess with OUR WH's What is Your stance on WH stuff? |

The only thing I'd really like to see changed from this is the dense clustering of asteroids. The nebulae of New Eden provide some of the most gorgeous backdrops. From this footage, the asteroids give a very "boxed in" feel to the battlefield. It almost feels claustrophobic.
The HUD looks great. Very minimalist while still presenting important information. I like the "Attack & Defend" game mode, having fighters zipping around a freighter as it closes in on a stargate.
Just clean up those asteroids a bit. :) I don't want to see giant rock walls in every direction as I fly through the vastness of space. Pod Goo & Tonic: http://pgandt.blogspot.com

Epic. I should add that you should add G-forces like in war thunder (icons and color disappear if you get heavy G, eventually everything gets blurry and dark). And some maps should have Gravity from nearby planetesimals and black holes. Would work like altitude (easier to accelerate towards the gravity (down), and harder to accelerate away from it (up). In all theoretical military scenarios of space warfare it is argued that it will be a very common occurrence because of its strategic advantage. It would be done by simply slowing down orbital velocity to below a safe orbital velocity, that way the spaceships must expend fuel to keep altitude the same). I also think there's room for AB, MWD and MJD mechanics. particularly if there's G-forces as well. Lets say the MWD works the same (lower inertia, which means less G-forces, and increased speed, and increased radius, so in effect it takes more damage if you launch missiles after it even though its harder to hit with guns). |

Some good suggestions here. I would really like to see all of this in the game. |

I am sure that there ll be a lot of different environments, some more dense which I think looks fantastic, and some where there is no clue of asteroids or just some in distance. But more asteroids makes more depth, there should also be much more smaller ones around, and a lots of dust. |
