Because the area of space within a deadspace complex disrupts all kinds of warp drives, and before you argue MWD = MicroWARP Drive.
The only reason the acceleration gates work is because they are more of a slingshot :)

Edited by: Twilight Moon on 01/05/2006 15:48:40 I seem to remember being able to warp out of a deadspace when things go horribly wrong.....if I can warp out, why cant I use MWD's?

But i mean, here I am flying toward a can 80km away, and all i wanna do is use my MWD.. And yes I know its MicroWarpdrive.
Still though, whats the point?

the flaw in that explanation is... how the hell do you get out of deadspace then? generation ships? ----

bookmark the can, turn the mission in and then the can will be in open space and u can use the mwd.
If it's a muli-gated mission, bookmark a can in each gate.

You can warp out of deadspace because the warp to point is not in deadspace. You can't warp (or microwarp) to a point in deadspace.
Does that sound better?

The true downside to this is that it penalizes the races who use blasters and autocannons. It can still be done, but using an afterburner to get close really increases the mission time.

You must not have the deadspace microwarpdrive skill yet.
It's on the market in Serpentis Prime.

Because people would MWD out of range and kite deadspace missions and complexes without any sort of danger.
They did it for the health of the game.
If you can't understand that, then nobody can help you.

NPCs can use it, you can't.
Why? So you can't snipe.

It does?
My blasterthron rips through most deadspace missions, no trouble at all. I wouldn't even want to fit an MWD to it, it would spoil my capacitor. ________________________________________________

I seem to recall in my mission days...bookmarking one can. Finish the mission and return with a fast hauler. Works well that way. Or at least it worked well for my playstyle. This brings up an interesting point. Do warp scramblers/jammers prohibit MWD usage as well? If not, should they? This is akin to the deadpace explanation of a warp prohibiting field.

The people actually defending the lack of MWDs in dead space are laughably clueless.
I really dont have a problem with the rule, butas a game design issue. The laws of physics in in EVE are so inconsistant that you look like a fool argueing how things should conform to them.

does that mean you are less clueless? because that means we get to laugh at you as well.
mwds are simply explained away as natural phenomena. People's points about warping to a location inside a deadspace complex are corret, you cannot warp to a bookmark in a deadspace anyway.
My only concern is that NPC's are definately allowed to use them in there. Let em use uber ab's but dont make it so obvious that their sig radius goes up

Iirc the official explanation give for this was that allowing the usage of mwd's would do away with the atmosphere and feeling of being in a confined area of space.

So how does your blasterthron get to things like a sentry turret 80km? I am guessing for NPCs that far away you just aggro them to come to you.

"deadspace" is technically any are of space that does not have any celestial bodies nearby for your computer to lock onto for navigational purposes. as a result you cannot warp between points within a deadspace complex - theres simply nothing around for your computers to get a bearing on, and if you tried you would probably end up warping out into the oblivion of space never to be heard from again. same goes for mwds - they are weaker versions of a true warp drive, but your navigational systems still need something to work with.
technically this means you shouldnt be able to warp to a ss or mwd around in one cuz theyr in "deadspace" as well but... if you dont tell then i wont >:P

According to a dev, NPCs use also an afterburner. Only that it is a really uber one _____________________________

Because there was a problem with dual AB/MWD players kiting NPC's. Yes, dual AB/MWD was fixed shortly after deadspace came in. Sigh.

the reason you cant use arp in deadspace is becuase your navi computur can not lock onto the area inside a deadspace area. so it can not get a targetting salution. mwds cant be used cuase you would need to override the safty protocals in your navicomputer for it to online wich would be bad.
and cuase the devs said you cant use a mwd in deadspace
