I just got my CNR and trying to do my first lvl 4 missions but running into issues (not enough damage and taking to much damage :))
I got this loadout of the web but it might be obsolete?
High slots
- Cruise Missile Launcher II - Cruise Missile Launcher II - Cruise Missile Launcher II - Cruise Missile Launcher II - Cruise Missile Launcher II - Cruise Missile Launcher II - Cruise Missile Launcher II - Small Tractor Beam II
### Medium slots
- Caldari Navy X-Large Shield Booster - Caldari Navy Shield Boost Amplifier - Thermic Dissipation Amplifier II - Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II - Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II - Thermic Dissipation Amplifier II - Cap Recharger II
### Low slots
- Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System - Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System - Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System - Power Diagnostic System II - Damage Control II
### Rig slots
- Large Capacitor Control Circuit I - Large Capacitor Control Circuit I - Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
I'm using Fury missiles that do the appropriate damage for the mission (eve-survival.org)
Any help would be appreciated.

If your skills are up to par (and with T2 launchers I'm gonna assume they can't be that bad), I'd say you probably got into a really nasty L4 and need to be aware of what you're up against. That's a solid tank for fighting say... Serpentis, but not as good against Blood Raiders.
In L4 The Assault (Guristas) you can end up taking 1500+ DPS at up to 220km from the rats if you screw up the reinforcement triggers. Read every mission you're going into when just starting L4s.
You also said you checked EVE-Survival--so include what mission you're having trouble with. |

the fit is not optimal, but it should not give you any problems unless you're doing something wrong. that said, you should get rid of the tractor beam and the power diagnostics. also, the best rigs for a navy raven are rigor catalysts. without them, you will only deal reliably high damage to battleships. switching to precision missiles would help you hit cruisers better even without rigors, but it is a hassle and there is no reason to waste time and effort on it. lastly, i would advise against passive resistance modules. active hardeners will give you an extra edge that will make tanking the harder missions much less stressful.

The problem you have is not using rigor rigs, even with normal ammo rigor rigs will massively increase applied dps against most targets and if you switch to fury ammo you need rigors even against BS, otherwise it'll just suck.
To learn the how, why and how you can figure this out yourself go here and watch my, rather lengthy, EFt tutorial. There's a bit in there that specifically covers Ravens. |

I played about 3 years ago for around 5 months, I've been back for 6 weeks but I only play maybe 10 hrs a week.
When Worlds Collide Serpentis & Guristas is the mission I'm on now. It is only my 2nd lvl 4 mission. Maybe that's just a tuff mission.

Make sure your engaging at Maximum range. I routinely use Missles and sentry drones at 65k with a drone fit Armageddon and I can solo L4 missions easily enough. |

Personally, I always took the "new" part in new citizens Q&A to mean "new" to the player. If a player hasn't experienced a particular area of eve before I don't see why they cant pop into here and ask for advice.
Anyways, to the op I'm no lvl 4 expert - in fact I hate missions, but I been doing them lately to fix my sec status. One thing I noticed is that the mjd really helps. It makes the missions a lot more forgivable. You can use it to keep moving around and staying at range. Other then that, just make sure that you have the right tank and damage type for the rats you fighting and you should be fine. I don't play, I just fourm warrior. |

You should be using active shield hardeners. Unless you've got the passive shield tanking skills maxed out the passive hardeners aren't helping enough.
Also with decent capacitor skills you should not need the cap recharger. I'd put a target painter or second boost amplifier in its place.
Personally I have barely any issues running 4s solo in a regular Raven with 3 active hardeners, cap rigs, target painter, 2 boost amplifiers and the worse T2 xl shield booster.
If it doesn't work for you you have to be severely missing skill levels or are using all wrong tactics. |

A few notes:
1) The Navy Raven now has eight missile hardpoints, not seven. I suspect that if you don't use the eighth missile launcher, you'll do less damage than a base Raven.
2) If you're still learning, you might want to put the Navy Raven into storage and use a base Raven until you're confident about how to handle mission combat. It won't go through missions as quickly, but it'll be easier to learn with, and when you're comfortable with it, you can switch back over to the Navy Raven and use pretty much the same equipment.
3) As above: active hardeners will be superior to passive hardeners.
4) Don't overload on shiny modules while you're still learning. There are people who will suicide-gank you without a second thought, either for your fittings or out of simple sadism. You should be able to put together a perfectly serviceable mission battleship without going beyond Tech II. Your problem: you have 5 fittings dedicated to capacitor.

Carry 15 charges (3 reloads), plus 5 in the module; this is plenty to last several missions.
Use the long range of cruise missiles to your advantage!
You should only need to boost your shield on warp-in, as you drag the auto-agro group with you to range.

Yes. This is generally considered one of the hardest level 4s. It's very possible that you will have no problem running many of the other missions although the fitting advice above is pretty sound and should help you out. www.ensignyooch.wordpress.com

As the others already said this fit is...let's say it's not cheap but that's all about it.

Or he fits a MJD, doesn't need to worry about Booster Charges (and tank most of the time) and saves one med slot. Sorry, but the RNI is simply not a speedtank. Only thing that will get pretty annoying in the mentioned WC is EWAR then so I would suggest doing the Serpentis Side only where close to no tank is required above 50 km.

Only thing that will get pretty annoying in the mentioned WC is EWAR then so I would suggest doing the Serpentis Side only where close to no tank is required above 50 km. I tried a MJD, and decided it was a PITA. It was too hard to navigate where I wanted to go, and took too long. I also tried it on a bonused Marauder, and it was still a PITA.
You can speedtank a Raven with just an AB. It works against all but Angels, and with them it still helps.
I didn't believe it until I tried it. It makes a big difference, even with a tech 1 AB (I tested that too). It will keep you ahead of most NPC battleships and battlecruisers.
Once out about 100 km, I also found I could turn my hardeners off.
Then there is strategy too. Example: I liked to two-volley the battlecruisers and one-volley destroyers first, as it gets rid of NPC DPS quickly. Saved cruisers for last. |
