Ok, we know for sure that there will be a VOIP system integrated into EVE in Kali.
But , I read different things about that it will be free or you will have to pay extra for it.
Anyone OFFICIAL! can say a correct answer to this ? Or you plan to keep us in the dark, or you don't know yet and we still have some hope ?

Read the original announcement thingy. It is described as a "premium service" which generall means pay only service. Check out the E3 stuff, its there somewhere I think.

and wherent all the other games lame becouse u had to pay for extensions?
and how u want to make us pay? is it like only the ceo paying for server like teamspeak?
or is evry one gonna have to pay? becouse then u might aswel use teamspeak.

It is true you do not NEED it to play. But I would still hope it to be free as it is comming in a free patch (kali). But I also have my reservations about this software, dependant on how they impliment the software. If it is required to at least listen then it will greatly increase the amount of bandwith EVE takes up. So as much as I hope it if free I also hope that it is optional (TS 4tw anyway, right?!).

You do not need it until your fleet commander don't tell you that you need it..
If you will have to pay extra for it, than it is a realy stupid idea... IMHO...

You don't need the overview to play either, but it's still quite useful.
Most people also don't need dreadnoughts, carriers etc to be able to play.
You don't need ts or vent to play, but it helps lots.
If they integrate voip into the ui, then it could become an extremely useful tool. In fact, it could become so useful that regular ts is rubbish in comparison.
You'd still have the option to stay with ts, but if the new system is lots better then I don't really consider that to be a viable option.

Add that to the voice comm servers probably being hosted in tuburkastan, meaning those of us on the otherside of the world wont be able to use it due to the latency anyway.
Of course people whine, its cause your sig sucks

This discussion is the same as T2 items. Dont like it, dont want it, dont subscribe it. Prices will go down. Features become obsolete.

According to www.mmorpg.com it won't be free of charge. It will be premium content that will require an increase in monthly subscribtion fee to be activated.

The way it's being talked about in some over the interviews, it's almost becoming a part of the way the new gang system is gonna be working, so it looks like it might be built into the game, or at least it will be a plugin for the game.

:) thats why VOIP have to be free :) so everyone can use it... It is a good idea to Have VOIP if it is implemented right, and use teh new gang features mentioned in the E3 interview... but for that to work it have to be FREE!

I sure hope ccp hasn't set this up with a full contract right off the bat and that they've got a trial period otherwise they'll just have a feature that people won't use in the game, costing them money until their contract expires.
Simply put, the commander and sub commander concepts talked about in the e3 video, not new, they are possible in TS and Vent with the correct permissions set and the right additional free applications.
Chances are the the EVE Voip will have a little icon to show who's talking, but addons for TS, Vent that do that already. But I doubt it will have the other such useful applications, such as those that mute TS when someones talking etc.
Simply put the fact its built into the game, already imposes huge limitations on it. Whacking on a premium charge on top of that, combined with the fact not everyone will use it. It will fall flat on its face look at what happens with the newer versions of vent when it copped a charge, its userbase dropped off. That really should be a sign of how it will go in eve.
*Sighs* Doesn't anyone do any market research anymore, heck this wasn't even in the features list.

It won't be free, but I think there's a chance that CCP will chooose another alternative then simply asking for account upgrades by X eur a month for premium services like this.
We'll see when they finally get around to informing the playerbase about the changes nad plans they've been throwing at anything even remotely looking like a press person for weeks.

tbh if it doesnt work without lag or being only a very small monthly charge CCP will find that ts and vent remain the choice programs for gangchat.
If it sux then players will boycott it - the major alliances will be the big ones to ignore it then it will be uneconomical - CCP i hope u get this right if u do decide to push ahead with it otherwise it will be a flop

Meh, more VOIP ranting.
As a worst case, there's no change - you can stick with TS/Vent.
If it's good, I'll use it. *shrug* don't see the big deal.

A goon at E3 asked about this, and the developer he spoke to confirmed that it would definately be a subscription based service.

The simple fact that if you CTD, or your connection drop, and lets be honest it happen quite often, 2 - 3 times a day, you lose voice contact with the others is enough reason to not use it in PVP.
How many times you CTDed in a battle that you had to ask on TS or VENT that it is safe to log back in at that spot or not. With VOIP built in, it is not possible = useless.
