I have two mining lasers on my Venture but they wont target seperate rocks. How do you do that?
when i try to set them on different ones they wont do it.
any tips welcome.
btw i am assuming that using two on one rock makes it faster but may be not? Director 3D World and Game Developers "We Build Worlds" |

Regarding targeting multiple things:
1) The second target is probably out of range, or...
2) You're clicking on your laser icon and then clicking on the target. Instead, target the rocks individually before activating the lasers.
Regarding using two lasers on the same rock:
1) Each laser operates independently. If you use two on the same rock, it's twice as good as using one.
2) If you target two rocks and assign one laser to each, then the harvest will be the same as if you used both lasers on a single rock. "For example, if you are thinking about selling a Republic Fleet Firetail as a regular Firetail, be sure that the market volume is high on regular Firetails and that there are plenty of buy/sell contracts for Republic Fleet Firetails. [...] The players most interested in Republic Fleet Firetails are going to be players flying regular ones."-á -- PB |

lock two separate asteroids
select rock A, press F1 select rock B, press F2
edit I though untrained minimum targets was 2 ... ? so Targeting Skill would make that 3-7 targets. |

Carnia Astrael wrote:btw i am assuming that using two on one rock makes it faster but may be not? Each mining laser will mine X amount of ore every minute. Whether you use both lasers on the same rock or on two different rocks makes no difference, except for the very end.
Example: each laser will mine 1333 units of Veldspar per minute. (Exact number varies with your skills.) If you mine two different asteroids, you get a total of 2666 per minute, exactly the same as mining one asteroid.
However, each asteroid has a certain amount of minerals in it before it disappears. If the first asteroid has 3000 units left, after one minute only 337 will be left and in the second minute you only get those 337 minerals. The asteroid will disappear at the end of the second cycle. So you wasted two cycles for a mere 337 units of veldspar. If you put your lasers on two different asteroids, you will only waste one cycle at the end. But for a normal mining laser with a one minute cycle, this is rarely important - it becomes more of an issue when you use strip miners with their 3 minute cycle.
Also, if you are using an asteroid scanner, you can avoid wasting cycles entirely, as you can stop your miner early. |

Problem here seems to be that you don't realize you can target things without activating modules.
Try ctrl+click on an asteroid/ship/anything to target it. You can then left-click the targets on the top of your screen to cycle targets, activating modules on whichever of your targets you want.
Also, be sure to train the target management skill to allow you to lock more targets at once. www.minerbumping.com |
