Hi Guys I'm looking to get into the role play side of the game. I was sort of looking to try setting myself up as an Amarr Minmatar sympathizer, sort of the opposite of the Amatar. One thing I do know, from all my pen and paper role play is you need to know what you are going on about so as to make it credible. So I'm asking. Is there any backstory 'evidence' to support this idea, and is there anybody already doing this? Any input will be gladly recieved though can I ask that any debate is out of character, at the moment I'm just trying to put an idea together

There are quite a few like that, and they don't fit in all that well because the minmater won't trust them and the majority of Amarr call them heathens.

Yes, there are quite a few like that, and many of them fit quite well. For the Matari to trust an Amarr takes time, dedication, and a true desire to aid them in their beliefs. It can be done. For the Amarr to call you a heathen takes 2 seconds when lag is an issue. Lending aid to the Matari is not a prerequisite.

IIRC, the short story "forsaken ruins" has an Amarr who broke away from mainstream Amarrian beliefs, but this doesn't play a big part in the story. Theodicy also has an Amarr who turned over to the Minmatar, resulting in the biggest defeat in Amarrian military history.
Naturally, you should familierize yourself with the complete prime fiction before doing any role play. ---- "Well in this case, he's being flamed, and rightly so, for whinning about a game mechanic that doesn't actually exist." -Lorth |

I am spreading the word of God to the Matari, in a calm and peaceful manner, which doesn't involve forcing anyone to do anything against their will. It may take longer, it may not get the crops in, and the ship may not get polished, but everyone is happier.
Further comment in this vein should be moved to the Galnet Forums.

Actually Vendrin. It was exactly this sort of conundrum I am after. What inspired this idea was after seeing an article on the history channel about a US battalion made up of 2nd, 3rd generation Japanese. Though they fought 'with the spirit of the samurai' with the US forces in the Itallian campaign they were never fully trusted by many higher level commanders who were fully expecting them to turncoat, despite them having having a number MOH and lessor commodations being awarded.
Thanks for the replies guys. They have given me some food for though on the matter and all being well I can now start to do is some justice

Alternatively, you could create an Amarr who has defected to the Federation. There is more support for this in the background/PF than Amarrs who have integrated into the tribal culture of the Matari. You would be breaking new(ish) ground as even though the Fed is supposed to be this huge melting pot most of its players seem to be the default bloodlines. As a Fed citizen there is nothing stopping you from sympathizing with the Matari or even the Intaki.
BTW personally I would choose a Ni-Kunni over an Amarr or Khanid, as they are or were a slave race and are more likely to have defectors/escapees. Regardless, have fun and try not to take this stuff overly seriously
