This sounds like a bug, because it is certainly an easy way to lose a lot of isk.
If you are in a carrier, and you have you fighters out and assigned to a gangmate, and you suddenly disconnect. You warp off to 1m km and disappear, the fighters follow you to that spot as well. But when you log back on again, they dont follow you back to the place you originally were. So you have 5 fighters out, you get disconnected, you just lost 100m isk that cant be insured
As far as I know you cant scan for them, there is no Drones or Fighters option in the probe window.
If you are using drones, they dont follow you, they just stop where they are and are there when you return, ready to pick them up
Whats the whole reason for warping off anyway? To protect your ship and pod during a disconnect? Last time a checked, most ships cost a lot less than a full set of fighters which arent protected by the disconnect (or insurance)
Anyone else think this should be changed / fixed BTW, can i have my templars back? |

Edited by: Lil Belle on 25/05/2006 20:48:59 Yes this should be fixed, but hey, what do the devs care, throw out the features full of bugs that hurt the players and leave them be, and fix the bugs that benefit the players (such as the corp hangar array bug). CCP has really got everything backward.

Droners have had to put up with similar bugs for ages. Tbh the capship crowd isn't that big yet so I doubt its of priority as its not a bug that can lead to anything exploitable. So sit tight and keep filing those bug reports

This bug leads to people losing 200m worth of stuff with a disconnect/crash whilst fighters are out.

you really shouldn't complain too much, cause we all know what happens when there are too many bugs in game to even be sorted out - CCP expands, introducing even more bugs.. I'm telling you, it's a friggen merry go round. way to go

no they haven't. your drones won't warp off to their own personal safespot and get lost. reading 4tw

Our carrier pilot has disconnected with fighters out. However the fighters did NOT end up at some random place. Instead it seems they ended up at the nearest warpable which was a belt we've never been in prior to that disconnect.

0 of 7 drones in space 15 in drone bay 0 in local space 0 in distant space
Would be nice if they did stay in distant space though |

Edited by: Rick Dentill on 26/05/2006 07:10:29 I find sometimes it takes a few moments before my ship does the instant warp due to turning and whatever after a disconnect and relog. If you are really quick you might be able to bookmark the position before you enter warp.
Not a fix, but it might save you your 100mill+ _______

Is it possible to bookmark the location when you log back in? Like as soon as you see your ship hurry and bookmark the loc and then warp back and get your fighters?

Hmm, the fighters returned to my safespot after downtime. That happened last time, but on that occasion i cloaked and lost the fighter link.
Handy to know if you ever get disconnected and lose the fighters
Thanks all for info |

This happened to me maybe a month after carriers were introduced to the game. I petitioned and a dev warped me to each of my fighters. They were NOT all in the same location.

There are plans to alter this situation, it requires reprogramming, and won't be a simple fix.
I have no eta for deployment. This topic has been covered in the game development section of this forum, along with a whole host of drones and fighter questions and issues.
