Hallo, I just returned to the game after a year and EVE feels like a totally new game with all the changes! I tried going through the available resources but I can't get my head around which Minmatar ships to choose for level 1, 2, 3 and 4 Security missions. I have excellent Core, Fitting and Projectile skills. My Shield and Navigation skills are good. Can someone recommend Minmatar ships for pve with fittings?
My Skills can be seen here : http://eveboard.com/pilot/Selune_Starlight
Thank you all in advance for all your help!

With your skills I would go for mael with t2 large ACs (you should be mere minutes from them as you already have large projectiles V and medium spec), then take minnie BS to V and then cross train to gallente BS and switch to mach OR train marauders for vargur. Not much complexities here. I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |

i think the machariel is for a more blitz style mission running while the Vargur, being a marauder, is a kill em all. loot everything type. |

Sounds good...I am the kill and loot type. So I will probably go for the Marauder, but blitzing with a Machariel seems attractive :) I will probably cross that bridge when I get there.
The arty thrasher is awesome for lvl2's. I am grinding them fast. Thank you.
Vargur will take me atleast 2 months to fly so I am thinking of using a Maelstrom till then...is it good or is it better to use some other turret faction BS with projectile weapons till then? |

Maelstrom is a nice boat.
The machariel is nice and the best faction option.
I've heard claims here and there that the RF Tempest can outperform the Maelstrom despite it's paper dps disadvantage, mainly via mobility, but i havent bothered to test it for myself. I would imagine that if it can, the lead is pretty small and depends on the mission.

Maelstrom is one of the better T1 mission ships. It won't compare to most faction/pirate ships, but it's cheap and insurable if you're new.
It has a great tank, and can do a lot of DPS with autos, but has range issues and needs decent skills to be able to stay in range without capping yourself out.
As artillery, it is one of the easiest to use starter L4 ships, because it has great tank and great projection. The DPS is pretty low though, and the cycle time in on artillery is painful to a lot of people, but it's still very effective for the cost/skill investment. |

As for the painful duration on the weapons, I'd say that 1200mm arts are an effective painkiller. |

Yeah, but they have worse projection and do even less DPS. |

So Maelstrom is good is but not the best T1 BS. I want to do the missions a bit faster so can you recommend a T1 BS that can do that? preferably one that can mount a projectile system. Any Race BS is okay. |

The Maelstrom is probably the best option in the T1 BS lineup if you want to use projectile weapons. Its just that once you expand into faction and T2 better options present themselves. Such and the Mach and the Vargur. |

1400's take most of your PG. one would need good core skills, a PG implant or two, and probably fit some pg mods as well |

The Mael is the best T1 projectile BS. The problem with autocannons is that they operate mostly in falloff, so you generally hafta be closer to rats to do close to your paper DPS. The issue is none of the T1 battleships have a falloff bonus, so unless you bling, you're mostly better off with arties. The Machariel and Vargur both get a falloff bonus, which is a lot of why they're so good. I wouldn't recommend spending the isk on either until your skills are up to par, and you've had some practice flying the Mael. It tanks a lot better than the mach does; the mach's tank is in its highs. |

Yeah, I tried using AC's and Arty's for PvE missions and I find Arty's easier to use and faster to clear missions. I am going the arty Maelstrom (hopefully someone has a tried fit? lol, I know I am being lazy :p ) path and take it from there. Your suggestions were really helpful! thank you! |
