I don't enjoy mining and I tend to get OCD about many things in this game and thank god for excel. I was mining in a venture in a noob highsec system testing out different ores available to me and something is wrong with Plagioclase. For an Ore that appers to be a higher tier than Veldspare or Scorsite its volume isn't consistent with tired progression.
Veldspare has a unit volume of .10 M3. Scorsite has a unit volume of .15 M3; however, the unit volume of Plagioclase is .35 M3. Yes the revenue generated from Plagioclase is more because it has more minerals in it; however, because its unit M3 is so much higher you get less or it over a longer period of time which causes its IPH to be less than Scorsite.
Perhaps Scorsite is broken?
The other ore like Plagioclase, Pyroxeres has a unit M3 of .30. If you take that .30 and substitute it for .35 M3 the ore seems to tier much better.
Is this an issue where the Minmitar and Gallente are getting the shaft on poor quality minerals?
What gives?
Why mine Plagioclse at all when you can mine Scorsite faster for more IPH. |

Wow.
But seriously, try finding Jaspet. That's even more "broken" but you get enough minerals out of it so you make more money in the end.
By the way, there are ores with 16m-¦. Have fun. |

I havn't been able to find reliable information about Jespet in its 5% and 10% yield. Which is better Pristine or Pure?
but yeah 2.00 M3 per unit is nuts, let alone 16. |

Mercoitx is 40m3 per unit and you need 250 to refine once. |

The market determines mineral value and thus plagioclase is dependent on the market. If CCP introduces new ships or modules that use Mex more than current, then the price may rise to be in excess of Scordite and Veldspar. One of the main reason Pyroxeres is so valuable is due to its Nocxium content which outside of oresites is the only high sec asteroid source. |

There isn't anything wrong with the m3 values of the low end ores.
I can see where you are coming from as to the regional varieties of ore in the main four racial space systems. But I don't feel there is really anything that needs fixing with it. The Amarr & Caldari have Pyroxeres but Minmatar has Plagioclase which has the highest content per m3 of Mexallon. Swings and roundabouts really as it isn't that far to travel if you wish to mine in a different races space.
I would be interested to see your maths as to how you work out that Scordite currently gives the best IPH. I presume maybe you have looked at the Cerlestes website which gives prices but doesn't actually tell you which ore gives the best IPH. If you mine Scordite for one hour, then Plagioclase for one hour and after 'perfect' refine work out the values you will find currently Plagioclase gives the best IPH from those two ores. |

It all depends on your refining skills and equipment setup....oh and mineral price for the refined ore.

Mine scordite right now.

Ah looks like I misunderstood what the OP was doing. If you are mining and selling on unrefined ore it appears it may be the case that Scordite has a higher resale value than Plagioclase for certain reasons. Fair enough.
BUT if you are refining the ore and have 'perfect' refine then atm Plagioclase will give you several million ISK more per hour than mining Scordite. This is mainly due to the price of Mexallon rising and holding its price. |
