2 new types of rigs
It would take up a rig slot.
1. Hardpoint Exchange rig. Would reverse Missile and Turret Hardpoints on a given ship hull.
2. Ship Bonus Rig. Would change weapon type bonuses on ships. So with the right rig you could change the Hybrid bonuses on a current ship to either missiles, drones, lasers, or projectiles.
How bad would this be? Too easily abused?
Not looking to overpower anything, just thought it might force each weapon system to become balanced, and make a wider variety of ships available to players that haven't played for years like myself.
Now to me a ship that was 'rigged' to use a different weapon system than normal would be losing 1 or 2 rig slots, so that would make it less powerful overall than if it used it's natural weapon systems, so to me the idea seems to come with a pre-nerf for balance, and it would still open up more variety.

The profilerations from this are horrific to consider. yes it would fix some ships but it will break others.

TBH, the reason this wouldn't work is because rigs are needed slots on almost every ship in eve.
You need them for cap, tank, dps, range, speed, cargo, etc. etc.
So in taking up two slots to swap weapons and swap bonuses, you're losing out on quite a bit of range/dps/tank, or whatever else you would have used it for.
Plus, you have to consider the damage - manuverability - range - tank compensation.
Each ship has been attempted to be balanced in these aspects, by either perfect balance, or leaning more towards tank and range, or range and damage, or manuverability and damage, etc. etc.
You get the point.
So in swapping the weapon types and the bonuses on the ship, you may be very well unbalancing them.
Assentially what I'm saying is that CCP would have to go through and rebalance every ship with the opposite weapon load out.
They wouldn't do it, and it would just lead to tons of headaches because they would have to write two seperate codes for each ship.
Plus this just means everyone would be minmatard. |
