Countless CTD, server nodes etc.
CCP Please just take down the server, apologise to the players, have the whole day to fix these problems and bring it back online.
Sorry but this is getting beyond a joke.

I agree. I would be more than willing to put up with going without eve for a day, if it helps getting things sorted. ----------------------------------------------- "I am watching you through a camera" - Artie Ziff

If it would do any good - definitely.
This Eve Online/Offline/Online/Offline/Online/Offline/Online business is getting a little tiresome now.

The way I see it, I would rather them take it down for 1 whole day and fix these problems, rather than every day CTD so many times your blood boils, getting stuck, and the more common - lets reboot the server.

What makes you think taking the servers down has anything to do with fixing the servers?
Do you think the devs have to peddle a bicycle to keep them going or something?

If it gives them 24 hours to see what the hell is going on and to trace the route of the problems then why not ?

Besides if you read what I posted you would see I dont request they take the servers down for the sake of it, but to fix it.
If you have a responsible and mature comment, then make it - if not don't bother.

The problem is, the two aren't related.
Your comment is like saying "I'm going to leave my garage door open for a day so that my toilet will unclog."
Once the code changes necessary for the fix have been made (which is done NOT on the server cluster), then the cluster can be updated during a downtime (likely an extended one) ... but the fix has to be done first ... taking the cluster down UNTIL the fix is finished does nothing to speed up the process of developing the fix.

Exactly Sway.
Anyway, NO don't take down the servers. Why? Rather one reboot taking 20 minutes than a whole day.
CTD? Where? The CTD problems existed around one month ago, not now. Something is wrong with your computer. At least I havn't got CTD's recently.
To take the servers down for a day is a joke, and wouldn't speed up the process. The devs in Iceland are working to fix the problems, why would it help to take down the servers located in London?

Funny you should mention this. I have had a total of 2 CTD's in the last 4 months. But since this last patch I had 4 alone last night

The lag right now is horrible, the corporate chat laughable and missions frustrating as agents fail to register your decisions...

Mr. Gold...
You can't even begin to comprehend what is wrong with the servers running this game. Do you know anything about software -- databases, applications; or even the networking involved with such an operation?
Don't waste all of our time with this frivolous garbage. CCP has a business to run. There's what... 6 posts on this subject so far. How many do you think it will get up to? Maybe a dozen? So, with your dozen of ppl who post agreements with your request, you think you're ready to go to CCP and say, "Take her down for a day." LOL. CCP has at any given time at least 2000 users logged in.
They will not shutdown the servers unless it is absolutely essential to fix the current problems. Nevertheless, thats why they have 'Test Servers.' So the customer does not get screwed.

Yes, taking the servers offline does not help correct problems in the software.
The reason they take servers offline temporarily for reboots is to flush out resources that have been gobbled up by a nasty server-side memory leak and unstick stuck characters.
Actually fixing these problems is a matter of tracking down where in the code they are coming from and making appropriate changes, then patching the software.
Taking the server offline accomplishes nothing as far as this process is concerned.

Well, see, you arent a programmer, so you don't know anything about the process of fixing bugs. Your comment illustrates that perfectly. I, on the other hand, do this for a living, and am quite good at it, so I speak from professional experience. When you get educated about the subject, make sure to respond in a mature and intelligent manner.

Maybe he thinks the server needs to take the day off and rest for a bit so it won't be as stressed when it returns. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Yes, enough with this memory leak thingi and the crocodiles that goblled up all their memory, how much do we have to wait untill we play again in normal conditions really? Bring server down, buy new better server, kill the crocodiles, install.

Oh really?
Il show you how.. Open map, plan path from system A to system B, 30 jumps, if you feel really lucky then back again, chances are you see windows terminating EVE because memory is full and resources are all eaten up.
