Hmm hmm am i the only one that think its lame that the difference on your starting sp is SO extremely high?! I mean you can start with a char that you want to have a bit of skills and only have 7k sp or you can start a char and have a starter sp of 302k O.o Soo hmm yerą thatĘs around one month of game time out the window if you start it with 7k instead of the 302ką.
ThatĘs just plain out WRONGą
I mean how hard can it be to make a system that says you have X sp to spendt at start on those skills that are available for your chosen class (so you chose the class at first, as now just X skills, and then get X sp you can devide in any way you see fitting)
Or is it just me that think this is a nice idea (I know people with 20mil sp doesnĘt give a **** now, but it would have been so much more attracting in the beginning if you didnĘt feel totally scrod for not making the same starter built as every one else, if you wonted to be a trader instead of a gunnery expertą
Any other thought on this?

in all honesty the difference in the skills is mainly on a rank 1 skill. And tbh with most of the rank 1 skills once you have your attributes up (the mose important thing to think about first) rank 1 skills to lvl 5 only take about 1 week to complete especially if they fall onto one of your stonger attributes ---------

ALthough you can get around 300K sp at character creation that is of little concern. The main issue is the balance of your attributes. Having a character with 1 mill SP at creation and 13 points of charisma would be a problem to all but the most hardcore trader. A balanced attribute character with low Charisma and just a couple thousand SP is fine. Another thing to take acount of is cost of skill books Having Space ship command to 4 is cool but having a whole bunch of skills to 1 or 2 is great as well because then your not giving your iskies to NPC corps for skill books.

That's why there are 10x people in military academy noob corps (which start with frigate lvl4) than in any others. It's been so since game start I'd guess. Those who are in different noob corps are throw-away alts which you want to train to something low-level as fast as possible, and clueless noobs.
Oh and 300k is nowhere near 1 months of training, it's more like 10 days I think if you train your learning skills fast.
Also worth noting that currently you can only get gunnery, science and leadership skills to lvl5. They are pretty much useless for the noobs so what they actually save is about 5 days in the future, assuming that the player will train learning skills before specializing.

I think it's not such a big balance issue. Sure, one character may have more points, but the other character has more skills, maybe better picked stats, and can do more diverse things. A few months into the game and 300,000 points doesn't mean anything.

it REALLY REALLY doesn't matter.
just curious what skills are the difference between the "best" and the "worst" starting SP's?
as said, this is at most, 2 weeks training, and ALL of it ist stuff you will have inevitably anyway.
remember, SP are not equivalent to XP. having more gross SP is NOT inherently better. where the points are, is what matters.

While I don't think it's the best idea to let a newbie have a level 5 skill at creation, it really doesn't matter much in the long run. ---

The people with buckets of SP at creation will have fewer actual skills, and will need to spend more cash buying new ones.

I dont think that is real problem. I would rather spend 500k on new skills and get 300k skillpoints then to save does 500k and get 7k skillpoints.

well your all mission the point!
i don't really care if its usefull or not i just care about the feeling of it, and freankly i would see it as alot cooler IF you could chose to start of as what you wonted not just taking something after the sp... as some one said every one started up with frig lvl4 before the patch... thats just wrong..
give people 250k they can put as they wish on the skills they can chose (maybe say it cost 5k for each new skill you chose rank 1 and 15k for rank2 and 50k for rank 3 (just so people don't grind books at the start). this would give all the same start and let you feel you have the charektar that YOU REALLY wonted...
(ofcouse this would mean that every one would properly max out their learning skills (could be fixed with somekind of max lvl3)
by the way: the new bloodlines... wtf was that chinese thing about!? totally idiotic... makes no sense that all races are totally mixed in bloodlines (ofviusly when there are chines etc at all races).. they could have made the look race related... suk.s so much!
