Would it be feasible to change downtime to be every 25 hours?
SO that it would roll through the day and affect hte playerbase evenly throughout the period of about a month. Thus defavouring certain timezones for complex farming, POS spammage and soveriengty calcs. Click Me

Yeah, and I'm sure the dudes who have to do the maintenance would love what this would do to their work schedules.

since sombody has to be employed to do it, i'm pretty sure the downtime has more to do with a good workhour in iceland or wherever than anything else.
so as the above poster mentioned, it would be pretty difficult if you had to come to work at a different time each day.
i'm kinda 50/50 on the basic idea tho. pro: maybe for instance it would be cool to shift it an hour across an 8 hour day, then cycle it back and start over again so the downtime always happens while folks (whoever does the job) are at work and can monitor it.
con: but as a player i like that it happens at a regular predictable time, so that i am not caught off guard by it and cut off i'm in the middle of doing something. when addicted to eve i can barely keep track what day of the week it is, let alone a shifting downtime schedule.

We already have 24 hour employment schedules for other CCP employees, including th GM's and the merciless mods who never sleep.
It really would'nt be that much of an issue to send an email to the server crew telling them the good news that they can sleep in tomorrow. Click Me

I think it would be too much of a hassle. Imagine all the new players trying to keep track of when the downtime is. --- The Eve Wiki Project |

fixed downtimes are good, sure they hurt some time zones but thats life. but since the downtimes are fixed you allways know when you will be loosing playtime.

well .. there comes the cost-benefit-thingy ...
cost: more employes who need to get paid extra money for their job (because of odd things like nightshift and stuff .. or am i wrong??)
benefit: some players get the chance to play instantly when they come home from work
... well - practically it's only worse for CCP - they have to pay more to get the job done ... while it "only" benefits a certain group of people (not to forget - if the downtime is shifted (sp?) - there will be others who can't play the game instantly when they come home from work ... so - there are allways customers who are screwed )

Would you prefer a downtime where the local support team of Level3(hosting), IBM(Hardware), MS(Database) isn't readily available and fit in case something strange should happen?
- Wake up, have coffee, check the changes/backup/emails/logs/..., prepare minor patching/optimizing - Downtime starts - (Optional)Call for the needed support team if something goes down the drain - Start the servers and double check the logs - Go to lunch.
Sounds like a logicaly solid DT-procedure to me. If something breaks, the servers will be back up until the normal peak time is reached. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

/emotes wonders if his factorys will hit the random DT and lose iskies :(
good idea and fair, but i can't really see it happening
a) we will have to guess when DT is b) Factorys, labs etc will be fracked up cause of that( you will have to calculate every time you install a bpo not to hit DT c) Eve will always need maintense during DT, this simply needs manpower, only possible during the workhours of the maintence team at our case, CCP d) Evil alliances will have to schedule their peak times O.o not possible
Anyway you get my drift, nice idea and as i said fair but not possible
