1. How old are you and in what country (or continent) do you live?
2. Do you tell people you're a woman?
3. Do you think people react differently to you because you're a woman?
4. What part of Eve compells to you?
5. Have any sex starved geeks tried to pick you up ingame?
6. Anything more you want to say?

Edited by: Mr M on 05/06/2006 23:15:09 Damn you're a testy bunch. Sure, it's easy points to write about women players but since Eve is different than WoW or EQ2 I thought it could be interesting to see if there's also a difference among the players. And in this case, I wanted to ask the women of Eve.
There's no "Grrrls play Eve because..." thread here on the forum so I asked the question myself. And instead of outing every crossdressing(1) player there is I asked people to mail me their answers.
And for those of you who's wonering where I will publish this article, take a quick look in this thread

Maybe not so many do.. I love it.. But I am a person that never will try out WoW... That game gives me the shivers.. I did like Earth and Beyound and I love Eve-Online.. And I am a girl.. But then I know.. I am not like other woman.. I am a gamer ;)

I know of 5 females who play EVE. Since they are special and add something unique, sure they get extra attention from me (well some of them) but only because they are alot more fun in the game so I try to keep them here. Given they all also live in different countries, 5. is irrelevant. _______

2. Do you tell people you're a woman?
Yes, if they're on TS, they tend to pick up on this fact:P
3. Do you think people react differently to you because you're a woman?
Sometimes. No different than in the real world, though, in conversation types. The guys in my alliance are a lot more laid back than the steriotype ( all gamers must be sex-starved teenaged boys) would suggest:P DO we even HAVE any teenagers in TBB?
4. What part of Eve compells to you?
* Blanket statement*
Females play this game for the SAME reason guys do. I like to blow sh** up!! I also like to make more ships, so I can use them to blow more sh** up! Then I like to mine, so i can whorum form.
5. Have any sex starved geeks tried to pick you up ingame?
Rarely. *standard response to that*
I'm old, overweight, married, have a kid and look like it, and I have a bald spot. Tends to shut them up quickly

There are 3 types of people who interact with others on the internet. 1) Those who want to believe that the girl character they are flirting with is a female. 2) Those who want others to believe they are females. 3) And those people with real lives who don't care what your sex is. They are humans not people living through avatars.
Oh and to all those that say" I am female." I say this: "Since it can't be proven, say your the Queen of Gytsfrag while your at it. It means the same to me."

Edited by: Ryea Eripmav on 07/06/2006 08:28:10 1. How old are you and in what country (or continent) do you live?
21, USA
2. Do you tell people you're a woman?
Yes. Sometimes I don't at first for its comedic value or to gauge how apparent it is to other players that I am a woman.
It is quite amusing to see people's reactions. Men are more willing to be my minions if they know they're obeying a woman.
3. Do you think people react differently to you because you're a woman?
Yes. But only when we're joking around in corp does that really come up. Generally, I'm just one of the guys as I am able to be just as crude and knowledgeable.
4. What part of Eve compells to you?
My now RL fiance Lucian Alucard and his friend talked about the game a lot when I first met them and figured I might as well know what they're talking about. I stick with it because it's fun, it gives me some insight into the gamer population, I enjoy being a c-ck-tease and the minority, and it's a way to work, play and communicate with my fiance in a realm he enjoys.
5. Have any sex starved geeks tried to pick you up ingame?
Many a man envy Lucian Alucard because of me, claiming to be more deserving, so I would say yes. I throw 'em a bone every now and then with roleplay, pics and my webcam. I was crowned queen of EVE mIRC the day DigitalCommunist was screaming for my e-mail in order to view my cam. And yes... BoB, FE and m0o pilots alike bowed that day.
6. Anything more you want to say
-Lots of women are easy to spot ingame by the way they talk and emote. I like to be initially assumed as male by the way I speak. -Some women like to take advantage of the fact that they're women in a male dominated realm, some want to remain anonymous and wtfpwn male ass and laugh at them while others want to be known and do the same.

Hope you dont try to correlate this answer to being a woman.
Quote: Have any sex starved geeks tried to pick you up ingame?
If you dont think of an online game as an environment in which you can hook up with people, thats fine. 'Sex starved geek' is hardly justified. Besides it shouldn't surprise anyone that a male with a sex drive would use any form of networking possible to find a partner, instinct.

1. How old are you and in what country (or continent) do you live?
25, USA
2. Do you tell people you're a woman?
It really depends on the person asking. If i'm in a realistic conversation, yes. If i'm in a "OMFG ARE YOU REALLY A HAWT GIRL? CAN YOU SEND ME PIXS?" convo, then no...and the latter type usually happens in places like noobcorp chat.
3. Do you think people react differently to you because you're a woman?
Only when I do something stupid. I get the "she's a girl, of course she messed up" vote, followed by sympathy...usually.
4. What part of Eve compells to you?
Killing things. I'm a RN (registered nurse) and teacher out of game, so my job is to instruct and fix people. I like to indulge in the polar opposite in-game. As for why I didnt follow the trend and create a male character, I liked the look of the females better...all of the males look like geriatrics.
5. Have any sex starved geeks tried to pick you up ingame?
Once they latch on to the fact that I do, in fact, have two X chromosomes, constantly. Otherwise, i'm constantly told that i'm really a guy, and "probably a homosexual one at that for creating a female character" to quote a recent conversation.
6. Anything more you want to say
There are vastly more women playing the game than you know. I've been a gamer since back in the early early starcraft and diablo days and know boatloads of female gamers. I know of at least 5 in my direct vicinity of the country who play eve. Tack on to that the close to 40 that i know of in the rest of the country and then take a stab at how many I dont know about. We're generally used to the heckling and pseudo-perverted (and some blatantly perverted) commentary, as well as the constant onslaught of teenage male hormones that want to see pictures of our *******. I do think that women in gaming have adapted a better sense of the fact that it's only a game because of this. Guys will get frustrated and keep playing and get more frustrated and keep playing until they start breaking things around them out of blind fury. Women get frustrated and say "it's just a game, ill come back to it later" and ctrl+q. Much love to everyone who plays eve and all other games, wouldnt be the same without everyone's little contribution. _______________________

1. How old are you and in what country (or continent) do you live?
22, europe 2. Do you tell people you're a woman? sometimes 3. Do you think people react differently to you because you're a woman? depends if they lost a ship because of me, usually they rant more or shut up entirely 4. What part of Eve compells to you? ganking people 5. Have any sex starved geeks tried to pick you up ingame? I object to the idea 'sex starved geeks' and the only people who can even pretend at picking me up are friends and corpmates and I dont take them seriously and I doubt they are really interested. Strangers never come out of no where and try to pick you up. 6. Anything more you want to say? Taking of your clothes infront of a camera doesn't make you a better gamer nor will it get you any respect of fellow gamers. Do it because you get a kick out of it but let's not pretend you will get better in combat because of it

Originally by: Mr M I'm going to write an article about the women who plays Eve

p.s. sorry I can't participate in your survey since I am one of the GIRLs of eve. (GIRL = Guy in real life).

YARLY on RP servers, I was in guild with 60% female...nothing special about it, they are just like men, a bit slower reactions and slower pace of playing, but fun is better and there arent that much fighting between each other.
Funny part is all of them play NE females :)))))
Dont know about EVE im new player, but since it is not fantasy, I would guess there is very little amount of females, I think there are more males that act like females then females themself. Well haha I am the one too, but at least i say im a male to others :))) -------
