Honestly said I've been gone a good time and haven't fully kept up with all the update and changes that have hit over the time i've been gone (though I have been updating the game when I see the new changes are live), and honestly I am a little confused as to where to start again. Right now I have a little over 3.6 bil to play with to get a ship and fit it up, and from what I can see I do currently have skills finishing up training for a misison tengu ship, so I will be ok on that area.
My main thing I want to figure out right now is what to chose for a PvP ship after having been gone for so long...
I honestly just want two main things:
1.) Mobility 2.) High DPS
To be more specific on 1, I would like for a ship (module based, skill based, or otherwise) to have a high amount of mobility that I can use to be able to avoid shots and/or keep them out side of their firing range but stay well inside my own range. I don't want it to be easily bogged down by webs or scramblers, so in case of a emergency I would still be able to get the heck out of dodge and flee from the place I was shot down at. Then to also illustrate on 2, I want the ship to be able have a large amount of DPS - I was thinking at least 250 base would be the best area to start, but I might be too high or too low, so please let me know on this. I just wish to have a ship that if it encounters something unprepared it will be able to wipe it out very quickly and yet even if it came across a person entirely ready to fight the damage would still be able to put a good fight and have a good chance (maybe like 60-70%?) of winning even in that situation, but I may be unreasonable again so I apologize for that.
I thank those who can help me figure out what to go for in advance, I would really love nobody to post troll builds or insanely expensive builds (I see somebody trying to post a 10 tril build for some reason), and I shall end this first post here.

It sounds like you want a kiting ship. Here are a few ships that can be made to kite that I can think of off the top of my head:
Imperial Navy Slicer Condor Crusader Crow Corax Talwar Arty Thrasher Hawk Retribution Breacher Kestrel Caracal Navy Omen Rail Thorax Arty Wolf
Some are better than others depending on the fit and situation. However none of them will win 60-70% of random fights.
It also sounds like you want dual prop. I don't fly dual prop myself so you will need to play around with fits yourself and get blown up a few times to see what works and what doesn't. |

Sounds like the classic description of the attack battlecruisers to me. Pros: BS DPS, near cruiser mobility. Cons: Squishy!
Likely a Rail naga or talos, or an AC Nado That crazy bag FC with the silly things on the hull that shouldn't but just did. |

Somebody mentioned the Vagabond to me ingame when I was talking about the ship I was looking for, what exactly would I be aiming at if I was to try and fit such a ship for the desires I have? |

Which translates to, ACs w/ barrage, MWD, buffer or ASB depending on your taste, and long point.
If you look at its stats and bonuses it should be painfully obvious how it should be fit. Its practically cookie cutter. Which is both good and bad. The Vagabond is great at what it does. And everyone knows what your ship can do and what your fighting style is the moment you land on grid. |

with your missile skills and caldari cruiser 5 the HAM cerb or the rlml cerberus might suit. Best with links for speed and maybe quafe for extra speed. implants too if you are in low sec. people underrate them but for kiting and murdering anything that can keep up they work well. Fit buffer tank. Money at its root is a form of rationing. @Antillie Sa'Kan - Sorry I have been away for quiet a while so I have forgotten a lot of the game modules and fittings, which is why I am here :(
@Silvetica Dian - There are implants that affect ship speed? I didn't know that, thank you for telling me :D. But the HAM Cerb/RLML Cerberus I am not exactly sure what the acronyms are for as I haven't seen them before, so I would love to know the full version if you can :). And what do you mean by links and quafe? |

Nano navy omen is really good at the moment.
You have one of the best speed for its category (2500m/s with a nanofiber II), over 40k optimal range, and 50m3 of drones. It's worth a bit more than 100M fully fitted (less than a plain HAC hull), and is a joy to fly. You can add some buffer to it and still kite like a boss.
You can see the fit being showcased here, with some talent.

Would that be with a one or two nanofiber fit? If It's with just one that is insane, if it's with two then it makes more sense.
But for the fitting wise what exactly would work best for if I was to use augments and such like that? |

A good number of the faction navy ships come to mind. Most notably the Navy Omen but the Navy Augoror can work too (with better tank and slightly slower), so can the Navy Exequor (rails, yes really, they are good now), Caracal Navy can do it but probably not with HMLs.
Some non-navy ships that work the same way include the Omen, Rail Thorax, Rail Deimos. I'm sure there are more but these are the ones that come up off the top of my head. |

There is your problemYou don't want A ship.. You want a fuckton of ships..
Because you will have way more fun with 10 ships for 30 mill than you will with 1 ship for 300. Why? Because the 300 mill ship won't last THAT much longer.. especially if you're new to pvp.
I'd just recommend getting an assortment of frigs, dessies and cruisers. For frigs i'd recommend the rail-incursus and finding out how scram kiting works.. For dessies.. well you can use most dessies with just slapping as much tank/gank on there as possible.. and for cruisers i'd go.. Thorax or vexor. The other races are fine too but i think these are simpler to use. BYDI recruitment closed-ish |

Only one nanofiber for the fit.
For augmentations (implants ?), you can look up Zor hyper-link ( 5%prop speed ), 3% weapon implants, whatever floats your boat really, the ship is already good without any.
The only required implant is as far as i remember a 3% powergrid or a genolution.
However, since you just came back to the game, you may want to try first the cheaper kiting T1 cruisers, as suggested here, before heading on to the *next level* |

By links he means you would be in a fleet with a command ship. The pilot of that ship would have a mindlink implant fitted and have link modules on his ship to give you increased tank/web range/ agility etc etc etc.
By Quafe he means a consumable booster type item given away by CCP a while back. It can be bought from other players on contracts or on the market. It gives a boost to a couple of aspects. Can't remember which offhand. |

@Garviel Tarrant - Well it is true I have a lot of income at my disposal, I find that I prefer to know what fit to work towards (as my character is currently stated towards mining and ratting more than actual PVP), so I would also rather just have a ship that, even though I can't fly it, it can sit there and look pretty until I am ready to fly it. So while yes, I would be using other ships during this time, I find that having that ship to work towards is my best motivation.
@Tung Yoggi - Holy crap o.o, That is a fast ship! And yeah, I do plan to use T1/2 ships before going T3 or such, I am just trying to figure out what is the best ship I can start training towards for the requirements I placed :)
@Bethan Le Troix - Ahhh, thank you for explaining that :). I didn't know the boosters were called quafe, so I learned something :D and I also learned what links meant :3 |
