Does anyone know the order that damage is applied from ammo with multipe damage types?
ie: my Battleships EMP ammo says "Damage Caused" 6922 HP EM Damage, 769 HP Kinetic Damage, 1538 HP Explosive Damage.
If I fire this volley at a target does it do that type of damage in order? Im just wondering if it would apply max EM damage first to shields, then assuming that was enough to knock out all shields, the Kinetic/Explosive would apply next for full effect? |

Nope, all 3 dmg types are applied at once, each mitigated by the shield's resistances.
If it's more than enough to obliterate the shields, the excess part of each dmg type is subsequently applied to the armor, again taking into account resistances. Then hull, then pop! |

That's why if you're using an artillery tornado, it can be beneficial to split your guns into 2 groups, into EMP L, and something like Nuclear L, so that the Emp will peel away the shields, and the nuclear or sabot or w/e will eat into the armour harder. |

You have an absolute amount of hit points, independent of resists (real HP, not EHP). When you take damage, the amount of HP subtracted from the absolute amount is equal to:
((1 - EMresist) * EMdamage) + ((1 - THMresist) * THMdamage) + ((1 - KINresist) * KINdamage) + ((1 - EXPresist) * EXPdamage)
That calculation results in an absolute, real value that is subtracted from your HP. It's likely a bit more complicated behind the scenes, since you can do stuff like blast through someone's shields and into their armor in one shot, but in my experience that is how it works (and how I would make it work if it were me coding it). It also doesn't really matter since the way you take the damage isn't absolute. You don't get to 0 shield and then take armor. As you get low on shields there is bleed through to armor (there is even a skill to mitigate that) |
