Interesting that you must reboot to fail over.
I manage hundreds of database clusters, and dont need to do this. Why must you reboot the servers? Or do you use the term reboot to move resources to the inactive node(s)
I am curious from a technical point of view.
Thanks
I don't need to reboot any physical machines to do a failover. I meant as a reboot in the sense of restarting all the EVE server processes. Because we are running a Windows failover cluster for the DB, a failover takes a couple of minutes and the EVE cluster can't survive a 2 minute disconnection from the DB.
Hope that explains it. ------ Valar Database admin - Server operations team CCP Games How to write a good bugreport |

That makes perfect sense and I do the same thing.
Thanks for the quick reply! |

so have we got again 100% CPU load - a memory leak or some othe problem just following the technical stuff here - that said looks ok now so good work CCP.

It will be relativly quick and painless
the CPU Usage of all the computers where I work (School Network) have been running at 99-100% CPU for about 2 days now. Maybe its a bug going round :) Couldnt think of any one better than the QA of CCP to fix it :) Emm?"Cant touch this" den der der dum, der dum der dum KILLING THE BUG'S, BEFORE THEY KILL YOU |

When this kind of thing happens do you use a tool like NetIQ's AppManager to find out what process/query/stored procedure was taking over the box? Just curious.

*hrgngngn* Not for me.
I had just spent some time to clear all the sections except the very last one in part 5 of the Human Cattle mission, when the reboot came up - and afterwards all the NPCs i already had killed have been respawned.
As it needs quite a bit of time when the biggest ship you can fly is a Thrasher, and it was 2 in the morning, I decided to write off the mission time bonus and come back later...
Can someone in Osmeden produce a few more cheap Thrashers? I'll shurely lose another one or two on redoing that part.

Sorry, I wasn't even online when the reboot happened and didn't even know that there has been a reboot...
But I feel compelled to come here and whine.

You should try to cut back on your memory leak mantra. When there is something wrong with the database server its most likely not a memory leak and it would probably happen often, not just once in a blue moon. ------ Valar Database admin - Server operations team CCP Games How to write a good bugreport |
