Short answer is: EVE is a multiplayer game. It will never be balanced or iterated around solo play. EvE is also a sandbox game, which means EVERY playstyle is just as valid as every other playstyle. You come across as the typical EvE-ite: "Play how you like as long as you play the way I say." I agree it will never be balanced around solo play, and so it shouldn't be but that is no reason to dismiss the OPs playstyle. I never said the playstyle wasn't valid. I'm a solo player 90% of the time. Whether you like it or not, eve is not a solo game. You can play solo as much as you want, but that won't stop other players from bothering you. That is a fact the OP, and you, need to deal with. I see you selectively cut off the part where I said the game should NOT be balanced around solo playstyles then. Where did I say other players bothering me was a problem? I've been ganked before and if you look at the post history considered it a part of the game and learned from it as should every one. Twerps that think that killing a mining barge is a big pvp achievement are just a part of this game as anyone else.
just to add to this discussion - I know Eve isn't and never will be a solo game and neither would I want it to be. I enjoy interaction. I just said I want to try solo play until I get enough capital/skills together to be able to join a small active nullsec corp.
In the meantime, I'm going to try the lowsec and the island ideas first. I don't think I'm quite ready for wormholes, but it is something I want to try in the future.
What would be awesome for solo players are personal habitation modules. I'd love to have my own place to dock and to actualy get out of the ship and wander around a little home with a starfront balcony. Defending it would be difficult I imagine. I love the station quarters, just a shame it takes so long to load. I'd use it all the time if it was instant load like the ship hangar.
Anyway, off to try out your ideas :) |

So what you're saying is there is a lack of CODE enforcement?

Most of nullsec is actually pretty quiet. You just have to avoid a few specific systems, learn how to get through the occasional lone interceptor bubble camp (not hard), and maybe keep an eye on what timezone the natives are most active in, and it will be pretty easy to make a living doing exploration solo.
For the manufacturing and mining characters, I agree with the ideas already posted. |

I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay. Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil!
The Rules: 26. Off-topic posting is prohibited.
Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued.
On topic, a C1 Wormhole system works just fine, especially with a low or null sec static. Put up a small or medium tower with some defences to fall back on and retreat to if needed. Are there dangers? Of course there are, this is EvE. But it is certainly viable for a lone wolf and can be quite worthwhile and rewarding. So far I've tried
1. A carebear corp in Highsec: infinitely dull, mission running and highsec mining - and that's when people are online
2. A corp in one of the giant alliances, living in null: great guys, but I'm not a fan of teamspeak and I didn't really care enough about sovereignty squabbles to get involved in fleets. Plus too many rules and restrictions
3. A small rental corp in null who promised me a quiet life only to discover they had to keep moving homebases because they were being forced to pay protection money. Again, great guys - but a bit stuck really as they can't do anything without fleeting up (which is a pain if you are the only one online).
4. I've also tried living in the null pirate regions. I love those regions but they are controlled by small pirate corps and I can't budge an inch without being followed/bubbled/ganked etc. When playing solo I can't retaliate - well not with my skills anyway.
I'm plexing 3 chars, but all are fairly new. I want to manufacture/mine/explore and when I have the skills and ships do some combat anoms.
I know this flies in the face of core pvp values - but I'd just love a few quiet systems where I can log in for a few hours, do my stuff and log out.
Is this possible? Or am I asking too much? Genuine questions, if anyone has tips please share.
Play X3 instead? I'm largely a solo player in that I fly alone, but you seem to want to avoid all interaction with other players, in which case I don't see any reason why you want to play a PvP-centric MMO instead of a single-player game. "Help, I'm bored with missions!"

Hey my dear.
Let me give you practical advise.
if you want to play alone I suggest you look at the map for a few days in regular intervals. Making screenshots and comparing them throughout the days in paint.net (http://getpaint.net) helps too.
What you want to know is the number of jumps and the number of people in local.
You can easily find rather quiet systems that way, but you'll be far away from tradehubs.
There are also empty deadend lowsec systems which shouldn't attract too much attention as long as you don't kill too many NPCs. Others check the map too.
Have fun and get killed repeatedly. The case of the bottomless dress. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=349499

a c1-c2-c3 wormhole with lowsec static - easy money-making potential, no capital ships, pvp opportunities through the low exits.
anchor a pos, arm it, and live in it as you see fit - noone is going to bother evicting you from a c1 or a c2, or a c3 even. |

Awesome advice! Not thought about that. Going to give it a go.
Liking the idea of C1 too...just need a few more skills for that :) |

Currently living in a C2 WH with a Static C4, Static Hi Sec and usually another C1 or C2 to jump into. IT IS FUN. Admittedly I'm not solo, but not all of the corp is here and they mostly live in another TZ to me.
So much potential isk I feel like Scrooge McDuck diving into his money vault. |

What the hell is going on? This is Chiq Mech's alt btw.
I finally joined what I was told to be a quiet corp in null only to be kicked within less than 24 hours. Sold all my stuff and started my trip to hq and kicked without any explanation. Have I been scammed?
I just don't get this game. All I want is to settle in a quiet null system and do my thing - mining/manufacturing/exploring. No matter what I try it seems out of my reach - either corps pressurising you to go on TS, to join pvp combat ops...and now to kick you for no good reason.
And then people ask why I want to solo play - I don't really, I just feel this is the only option left open.
