Ishtar... but a Vaga... you might have trouble catching it. Cerb and Zealot are also good.

Got to agree with Jim. I keep thinking scissors paper stone.

well my initial thought was an ishtar, with the tw o ew slots, you could even fit a multi and an extra webber for those pesky vagas

Vagabond
Both it and the Ishtar beat all the other HACs hands down, and in a fight between a vaga and an ishtar, its all going the vaga's way unless it is dumb enough to get into web/nos range.

Really want to see a vaga that takes a heavy missile cerberus out. The cerb may not be able to stop the vaga from escaping though ...

Edited by: Hub Quantum on 18/06/2006 22:12:14 TBH comparing ships without conditions is kind of goofy. The ishtar may well be the best HAC if it's solo vs. another HAC, but really how often does that happen, that's like asking which is going to win in a fight between an osprey and a scythe.
The whole 1on1 thing is cute, but most combat is going to be gang on gang. The fundamental problem with the ishtar (and why they are fairly rare in PVP nowadays from what I've seen compared to the vagabond, cerb or eagle) is that it's best setup is less than 20k (NOS and neuts) and for short drone travel time which puts it in heavy nos range, and it's not like heavy nos are rare; one heavy nos you're hurting, two heavy nos you are dead. Simply due to heavy nos mechanics the ishtar has major problems. You can take the ishtar out past 30k, but then it has huge DPS problems due to drone travel time.
The vag is also a close in ship as well but there's a half dozen reasons why it can still function and the ishtar has major problems (Can still shoot without cap, has great speed, great agility, great sig, aligns quickly, stababonds are also extremely common simply because it's best "tank" involves an ab, etc etc.)
And the eagle, well the eagle can be hitting you from the next region over.
Likewise the cerb, though lacking the range of the eagle, can stay out past heavy nos range and be putting a serious hurt on.
My opinion anyway, as I said it's a goofy question without conditions. 1 on 1 at less than 20k? Ishtar, 1 on 1 less than 10k? Ishtar without question.

a smart ishtar could prolly kill a vaga, fit some webbing drones and then get in range for your own web, then unleash the heavy hitting drones

best anti hac all around would be the ishtar in a commited fight 1v1 a well piloted fully skilled ishtar pilot is lethal
however vags' present a very dangerous opponent because they can determine the circumstances of the fight because of their speed they have the ability to test an enemy b4 engaging him by simply initianing a high speed pass to see his likely setup and strength
the best way to determine your best anti hac i look at your skills and intented setup then pick fights based on what he is likely flying and if you can counter what he will use .

ishtar ftw, web drones and it will catch and lock down a vaga, if you want instant dmg use sentry drones, you can use ewar in mids, if your nossed your drones will still be doing dmg and if you have a 1600mm plate passive tank, cap isnt really a problem, plus with nos you you might be able to run repairer or ecm mods/tackling mods whatever, and you can cap out the other hac if he has no nos.
i would say cerb has the best chance at killing a skilled ishtar pilot
suckrilege used to be an awesome anti hac hac, now its just meh :P

Cerberus, imo.
More DPS, range, and a better tank than other combat HACs, enough range to stay plenty far from an Ishtar's drones, and will kill a Vaga before it can say "gogo gadget MWD".
Of course, locking your target down is another matter. If our anti-HAC-HAC needs to keep its target from warping, than of course the Vaga wins here. Still couldn't kill a Cerberus, but kills all the other HACs.

would work perfectly if drones didn't explode with ease when shot

Fit it with stabs, mwd and fly around screaming "I win"
Dont even bother with mounting guns, no need. Smack your target to death

ishtar only wins vs vaga because of EW. if it has none fitted vaga can just go in close range and gank it.

Apart from the freaking big SW-900 tag that makes the drone's tag twice as long as normal, yeh.

Stupid pilots are not a good justification in a theoretical 1v1 situation.
