I'm starting down the lovely path of Amarr Force/Combat Recon and I'm using EveMon to help plan it all out. Everything looks fine and I'd be in it fairly soon, if it weren't for Electronic Upgrades. I get how it would make sense. I need uber skills in electronics to fly a stealthy EW ship. Just like a HAC needs lots of armor and hull skills to have the naturally high resist numbers. But the skill says it helps for mods I'll never use on a Recon. Every set up I've seen that makes sense use anti-enemy mods. I don't need a signal amp when I need to gank NPC hunters. I don't need a back up system when I'm supporting a gang by NOSing and Neutering the enemy... These make sense on the Covert Ops ship, which the Recons are the big brother to; I know, I get it... But that's not the role we fill. It's "Combat" and "Force" recon, not "Scout" recon. If I had to train to Electronic Warfare lvl 5, I wouldn't care, I guess is what I'm saying.
Is there any benefit I will see out of having this skill, other than getting 1 step closer to my Recon ship? Any mods I will use with it? -- A hitman on the final frontier. |

Electronic Upgrades is one of those skills you want at lvl5 anyway.

But for what reason. Every slot I have planned out for PvP is for EW mods, not sensors or processors... :-( It's a waste of time, but "makes sense" in the role playing sense. -- A hitman on the final frontier. |

Why? Only thing lvl V do is to lower cpu need for sensor upgrades with 5% and l÷vl V is only required for covert op skill AFAIK

You have already answered your own question.
Electronics Upgrades V is not a direct requirement of Recon Ships. It is a requirement for Covops ships, which are in turn a requirement for Recon ships.

Right, I'm just wishing they replaced EU with EW as the other skill you have to have at lvl 5 as a pre-req. to getting Recon. I guess I was just venting, as there is no way to have this changed.... But no one has answered my other question, what does EU bring to the table that makes flying a Recon better? -- A hitman on the final frontier. |

You need EU to fly Covops, you need Covops to Fly Recon.
EU is unrelated to flying a Recon, it is related to flying a Covops.
This thread is like asking why you need Frigate IV to fly a dread. You don't, but you do need frigate IV to fly a cruiser, and you need cruiser IV to fly a BS, and BS 5 to fly a dread.
EDIT: Also, you also don't seem to be aware that Recon ships are a relatively new ship-type. Recons have been in the game since end of December, and Covops have been in the game for at least a year longer than that. It would be really bad to suddenly change covops requirements when a new ship comes out that requires covops.

Ok, so you're agreeing with me that EU is useless for flying Recon (cause I'm not interested in flying CovOps the rest of my life) and doesn't enhance anything for it. It's just a pre-req. That's settled then. -- A hitman on the final frontier. |

Ive just finnished training for a Pilgrim, but am having huge problems fitting it... even though I have Electronic Upgrades 5.
Are there any other skills that will help with CPU requirements of the nos, neut, ab, web, scram etc stuff that im trying to fit?

The Pilgrim is a difficult ship to fit well until you train Recon Ships skill to level 4 or 5. This is due to the hi CPU fitting requirement of the Covert Ops Cloaking Device and the Pilgrim's Recon Ships Skill Bonus of -96% to -100% reduction in Cloaking Device CPU use per level.
Basically it will give you an extra 100 spare CPU each level of Recon Ships you train. So at Level V, it costs nothing.

and us t2 lowslot sensor booster, wich also let your ship target 1 more thing, but yeah, I wish there was something more usefull as pre-req for cov ops -_- - It is much more efficient to talk to yourself in person than via the chat system.

It's about as usefull as Mechanics is for Assault ships. 5% more hull, good for structure tanker but not much else. When was the last time you got away with less than 5% hull left? Sure it might happen once in every 1000 fights but all the other times it's useless. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
