Boot camp only applies to intel based macs.
For older g4-g5, the only way to get eve on the mac is to use linux and then load cedega to run it. ----- ------------

Cedega doesn't work on G4/G5 Macs. At this point, there is no way to run EVE on the PowerPC architecture that I'm aware of.

Just found this:
http://www.codeweavers.com/beta/cxmac/
Codeweavers beta for OSX... Some Intel-Mac user with a decent system might want to give it a shot.

It's a pity :( i've got a 12"PowerBook with G4 and i can't play on it. I have to use my pc.
BTW, post a report if you tested the game with the utility above :) http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/cat/?app_id=554

Got it working with Codeweaver's Crossover Mac 6.0. No sound, and limited resolution, but on my Macbook Pro, Eve runs beautifully!
Just go to http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=1860;forum=1 follow the instructions in the two posts by Stefan Dosinger EXACTLY, and it will run!
Demo of the software is 60 days, and only $60 to buy... Worth every penny if you ask me....

I thought you could only Bootcamp XP if you were on an Intel Mac?
Someone already mentioned that, its the PPC architecture Macs that are the problem. --------

You could try running Virtual Pc (by microsoft) but basically it's a piece of crap. best bet is to get boot camp but only runs on intel based macs a sad day for us mac users. a suggestion, offer eve on a mac platform as well. Many have already jumped on the bandwagon.

There are four options for getting Eve to run on a Mac. You must have an Intel-based Mac to make any of them work, however. There is no PPC code anywhere.
1. Use Crossover, who's many foibles have been discussed on this forum before. You will not have sound. It will not be playable in any real way on machines with integrated graphics (Mac Mini, MacBook).
2. Use BootCamp and boot into Windows XP. This is the most compatible method, and produces the best results for graphics and sound.
3. Use Parallels 3.0 and run Windows from either a BootCamp partition or a virtual machine. No one's really posted about having any success with this, but it is theoretically possible now that DirectX is supported.
4. Install Linux and use the WINE wrapper library discussed in the EVE on Linux thread. And good luck with that
Should we maybe have one of these threads stickied? Seems to be a regular topic of discussion. _____________________________________

Edited by: Bob Niac on 27/06/2007 22:57:21 hi .. uhm .. afik wine works with x11.app (need the GLX update from x11Update2006*pkg) on mactels. not ENTIRELY sure if 3d works well/at all.
Anywho, I just took over wine in the fink repository. it's 0.9.39, so i'm going to have to figure out a way to make an EVE build.
Any feedback is welcome. hell, come over to #fink in freenode.net if you want to help (my programming is knowledge limited.) or need assistance. Be forewarned. My hours are somewhat wonky.
P.S.
Yes, i am aware of codeweaver's claim. No, I don't think they are entirely correct.
Edit: There is a mostly abbandoned PPC port (think its Darwine or something.) Uhm.. fink wine is i86 atm.
