OOC:
RKOK is a relatively new corporation dedicated to Khanid RP. Unlike some of the other Khanid corporations in EVE, we follow a primarily military tradition rather than a religious one, though we believe the two to be interlinked. (We draw much of our inspiration from Confucianist China, as opposed to the Catholic Europe that many other Amarr/Khanid corps look to.) We consider ourselves to be a progressive and dynamic element within the Kingdom, especially compared to the Order of St. Tetrimon or the Amarr Empire.
We will be both PvE and PvP combat oriented, with an emphasis on team mission running, incuding COSMOS missions, rat hunting and complex running, anti-pirate operations, and wars against pod-pilot corporations that threaten the Khanid Kingdom. However, if youÆre an industrialist at heart, weÆve got room for you too, managing our supply lines and resources. We like to work as a team, and value every memberÆs contribution.
There are a few easy prerequisites for joining:
1) We do not accept trial accounts. (If you're currently on a trial, you'll have to wait for it to expire before you can be formally indoctrinated) Beyond this, there is no age requirement. 2) RPers only. You'll not be expected to stay in-character 23/7, but try to keep it within the spirit of the game. Strict RPing is required on the appropriate forums, in RP channels, and when dealing with other corporations and RPers, and during RP events. 3) You must be loyal to the Khanid Kingdom, itÆs King and ideologies, and be familiar with Khanid lore. (Khanid Kingdom backstory can be found on the eve-online website) 4) You must be willing to work for the corp when needed, cooperate with other corp members, help members in need, and respect the chain of command. 5) While there is no SP requirement, we encourage you to at least be capable of flying a cruiser, and to be aiming for battlecruiser sometime within the next month or so. We do help newer pilots with both financial assistance and sound advice 6) You must be mature, polite, and ready to have fun!
As you can see, weÆre aimed at both newer and older members alike. If you meet these prerequisites (especially number 6!) and are interested in joining, please send an eve-mail to me, Hitomi Ayame, and my captain, Zan Maruke. You can (and should) also join our public channel, RKOKPublic, to hang out and chat with our members.

*static flickers across the screen for a few moments and then clears*
The camera centers on a solid square podium flanked by two flags. A young Khanid woman steps up and crisply salutes.
Greetings fellow pilots.
I am Hitomi Ayame, heir to House Ayame of the Khanid Kingdom and Marshal of the Royal Knights of Khanid. As I am not one for long, boring speeches, allow me to be brief:
Your Kingdom needs you!
The Royal Knights of Khanid are opening their doors to pilots ready and willing to serve God and King Khanid II. We are looking for anyone loyal and faithful to stand beside us in the trying times ahead and defend our homes and our Kingdom.
As we are a relatively young order, many may be unfamiliar with our name. I feel this exerpt describes us best:
"The Royal Knights of Khanid take their name from an ancient order of warriors dedicated to defending the Khanid people that predates even the Amarr Empire. However, the modern day Royal Knights of Khanid are relatively new, and weren't established until after King Khanid's succession from the Empire.
"While the Knights are not a religious order per se, they see no distinction between themselves and other orders of the faith, and hold that service to the Kingdom is the greatest way to serve God. "Members of the Royal Knights of Khanid seek to embody the Khanid Kingdom's greatest strengths: dedication to tradition and commitment to honor, coupled with progressive thinking and dynamic ambition."
As a Knight you will have the opportunity to fly with other Khanid loyalists, working together both on and off of the battlefield, and to be a part of an up-and-coming force in the Khanid political landscape. You will defend the Khanid Kingdom from pirates, terrorists, and cultists, and work to spread the might of Khanid II throughout the stars. You will strive to be the best that you can be, and to live up the the honored traditions of our noble lands.
If you are ready to become a Knight of Khanid, or would like to hear more about us, please contact myself or my captain, Zan Maruke, or join our public comms channel, frequency RKOKPublic.
To live is to serve, and to serve is to live.
Go with God, and thank you for your time.
*the screen fades to an image of the Khanid insignia proudly shining*

OOC: As Lady Hitomi notes we are a new outfit, and primarily newer characters, but there are some old wolves in these sheep's clothes with extensive experience in RP and PvP both here and in other MMRPGs, MMOGs and MUDs. We hold both of coequal importance and include the economic and political side of things in our conception of what PvP really means.
So if you're an old salt gamer ("Oh, you whippersnappers think you have it bad? Back in my day we had to roll dice! With our own hands!") who's never PvPed, or RPed, before and is looking to learn we're the right place for you. Or if you're an ace at either or both you'll find yourself in good company. While we're mature folks with serious plans, we have realistic expectations for folks who are doubtless busy IRL as well. Diapers and DPS - we get it.
If you're a younger player don't be intimidated. Age has nothing to do with maturity. If you've been around MMORPGs any length of time you've run across young folks that can think, and make you think, and older players that leave you wondering how they survived so long.
Ideally The Royal Knights of Khanid will bring out the best in a diverse group of players. We'll look at the strengths of our membership and play to them. While we do have specific goals and expect participation to achieve them we realize that a player who isn't having fun or doesn't know how to be effective isn't going to be an asset for long. So count on us to help you get oriented if you need it and find a way for you to aid our cause that you find fun.
Because nobody is paying $15.00 US a month to work a second job.

I am new to game; haven't gone the warship route. I am mining and fly Bestower and missions with Punisher. Played a troll shadowknight and shaman in EQ several years so bit tired of blood and guts. Blooodline is Khanid with Heidon Univ. and science preparation. I'm interested in learning more of game.

OOC: Feel free to send Hitomi or I an Evemail in game and we'll get you oriented. We are looking primarily for roleplayers so if you're interested in trying that or have experience that will be a plus. Miners and industrialists are welcome however it's likely we'll have to deal with serious combat both in difficult missions and complexes as well as PvP in time.

Why A Khanid? Why The Knights?
For the love of a good story. Many have forgotten how the Kingdom of Khanid came to be and why we stand proud and aloof. Too many confuse our people with the Amarrian Empire.
How was it a proud Amarrian Royal House of the finest warriors in the the ancient Empire named itself after a race of barbarians?
How deeply are The Caldari State and the Kingdom intertwined?
What does it mean to be a Khanid cyberknight - a mix of man and machine dedicated to perfection in personal combat?
How did a Khanid people who are not especially religious thrive, and maintain both freedom and their identity, despite the tides of zealotry and conformity of the Amarrian Faith for these many millennia?
What is the relationship between the Khanid race, the Ni-Kunni and the Amarrians of The Kingdom?
To what extent do the zealot and unionist factions amongst The Khanid people reflect other divisions within The Kingdom? And to what extent are they fostered by foreign elements with their own designs?
What does it mean that the Caldari are now also developing commercial ties with The Empire? Is this a betrayal, the furthering of a broader scheme, or a rift between Caldari corporations with competing agendas?
Why is The Kingdom warming up to The Empire after 300 years?
What does it mean that the Amarrian supremacist warrior-monks of Saint Tetrimon were sheltered by a iconoclastic rebel monarch and unconventional Khanid followers?
Is there any character in Eve, still living, who has achieved so much as the King of Khanid?
What theological right does The King have to rule the faithful if he does not assume The Emperor's role? Does the King rule from a secular basis or is there a variant faith at work here? An Orthodoxy to the Empire's Catholicism?
These some of the questions we'll be seeking to answer as we develop our corporation and characters. If you'd like to play a part in fleshing out our world join the dialogue.

Sord Tomte a Khanid Unionist loyal to the Amarr empire but believes that the Khanid Kingdom is the sine qua non (the missing essential and indispensible ingredient) to a return to Amarr empire's glory. This could only be accomplished by political means as the use of force would fragment the empire. The possibility of the Khanid leader returning to again take his rightfulful place as one of the five heirs. But there are many obstacles . . .

Zan Maruke, you have made a lot of valid questions and I will only answer one question for you so you can have your fun to find the anwers for the other questions.
Originally by: Zan Maruke How was it a proud Amarrian Royal House of the finest warriors in the the ancient Empire named itself after a race of barbarians?
The Amarr gave the name Khanid to the 'barbarians' we know today as the Khanid bloodline. I would never dare to call you barbarians, though. The name Khanid given to you by Amarrians reflects this very much. Khanid means 'Lordling' or 'little Lord'.
Why did the royal house that now is known as house Khanid adopted this name? Because the Khanid people had shown great loyality towards their amarrian superiors and shown outstanding success on the battlefield. I would say the name Khanid stands for loyality and strength and the amarrian royal house (aka Khanid) honered the Khanid people by adopting this name for themself.

Of course that is the popular interpretation of this history ((and the canon explanation currently available to us - note those questions are posed in an OOC context obviously as spurs to creative thinking about the Khanid role in Eve)) but what makes this House of Amarrians so special that it could take such a step? To hear this generation of Imperial Amarrians holding forth one can hardly imagine such an act ever repeating itself.
In fact, my uncle often refers to our secret histories, of the Amarrians of the Khanid House and our own people, quite often. One day perhaps we will know the precise historical circumstance that brought The Naming about.
For now all a loyal Khanid needs to know is that our King leads us well as he and his ancestors have done since time immemorial. Our prosperity, independence and martial superiority are on display to the cosmos, praise God. Now, the honor of our Holder Houses, Khanid, Amarrian or otherwise, rests on repaying all that The Royal House of Khanid has done for us.
That is the mission of The Royal Knights.

Edited by: Zan Maruke on 07/07/2006 15:41:45 OOC: Sord, you might actually enjoy being in a more pro-Amarrian corporation depending on how strongly your character feels about Unification. While the Royal Knights aren't exactly anti-Imperial they're certainly pro-Kingdom and very much dedicated to continuing their independence. To the extent becoming friendly with The Empire can be rationalized as serving a strategic goal (say, keeping them off our backs or finding common enemies to set them upon) the Royal Knights are willing to tolerate or even encourage cooperation.
Other Khanid RP corps you might want to look into for more Unificationist RP would be Bruderschaft des Wahrhaftigen for some very crafty (and senior - they've been RPing Amarrian themes for a long while) Khanid Unionists.
Somewhere between the independent-minded cyberknights of The Royal Knights and the Unionists of the Bruderschaft would probably be the Zealots of Imperator Templarii. Imperator Templarii are more tolerant of Amarrian supremicist rhetoric than the Knights are, in the context of The Reclaiming, but they also hold to the idea of an independant Khanid Kingdom, by and large.
Apologies for characterizing the other groups, hopefully I didn't mess it up too badly, and their representatives can feel free to join in this thread too.

OOC:
I'd just like to say, recruitment is going very well and excellent job to everyone.
Lastly I'd like to point out Caldari are also welcome. My role is that of a laison between the Knights and the Caldari Navy. Since the Caldari and Khanid get along well, and share technology, the role fits rather well, especially for the partiot faction who are looking for all angles to maintain military superiority.
If you want to know more about the Caldari potential roles and openings, please feel free to contact me in game.
Cheers, Vymordryss

Although I am shamed to admit that I wandered from the path of service in my youth, as I now reflect on that time, I see that those choices were ultimately for my good. Indeed, all our good.
I have come to realize that only through service to the King (and through him, God), can we as a people truly be united. Until we choose to look beyond ourselves to something greater, we cannot realize our true potential and hidden greatness.
The Royal Knights of Khanid are people that share understanding of this truth. It was their honorable actions, service, and kindness that drew me to them as I searched for like-minded people after awakening from my years of folly.
It was their willingess to see past their individual desires and create an order of service, loyalty, courage, and faith that was a beacon to my very soul.
That ethos is why I am a Royal Knight of Khanid. With them, we will awaken the magnificence in our nation and bring that light to others.
If you're searching as I was, you may just find a home with the Knights. I have.
