I have 1.8 sp, playing for a couple of months, and currently doing combat missions in a Brutix. I can only fit 4x 200mm rails on it, and I have been told I should have either 5x 250mm rails or 6x 200mm rails on it.
The Powergrid is my limiting factor. I currently have the best named RCU available, but still don't have enough power. I have been told that getting Engineering trained will help, and I am at Eng. Lvl 4, and working on Lvl 5.
Are there any other skills that will increase the powergrid I have available to fit more guns?
Thanks. |

No skill other than Engineering to increase the total powergrid. However, Advanced Weapon Upgrades makes your weapons use less powergrid per level, so that one is handy as well...
Get Engineering 5 and AWU at least 4...

Advanced Weapon Upgrades 5 will also help!

Some other skills to help:
Controlled Bursts = 5% reduction in capacitor need of weapon turrets per skill level.
Energy Management = 5% bonus to capacitor capacity per skill level.
Energy Systems Operation = 5% reduction in capacitor recharge time per skill level.
these will help you stay in the fight longer also.
The Brutix is a good ship BUT very skill dependant. Before the RmR patch even high skill pilots could not outfit Battlecruisers well, they had even less cap and CPU.

Would it be easier to just move on to a Battle ship?
Thanks. |

Bigger != Better
Just because someone can fly a battleship, or even fly a battleship very well, doesn't mean they don't want to fly, say, a Brutix.

Edited by: Talori''i on 04/07/2006 05:11:19 I easily fit 6x 200mm rails on my Brutix + a bunch of tech II modules, do you mind giving us the rest of your slot layout, and whether its pvp/ratting/mission based setup?
My setup from what I recall that last used for my brutix goes like this:
Hi: 6x 200mm Railguns, 1 Tractor beam(very useful time saver) Med: 10MN AB, 3x Cap Rechargers Lows: 1x Med Armor Repairer, 1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrance, 3x Hardeners(Explosive, Kinetic, Thermal)
You can mess with the Hardeners a bit and switch them around for what you need, and obviously for all Medium and Low slots, aim for Named or Tech II modules if you have: the skills to use/cash to buy them.
This setup can tank pretty much all level 3 missions fairly well, you might setup for specific missions where you know you will only receive certain damage types though. No need for a webber, just use medium drones to blow up anything attacking you, Drones to level 5 is very important skill to have.

Maybe or maybe not, with only 1.8 mil skill points my guess is he/she probably doesn't have Gunnery 5, and using large hybrids on anything but level 4 missions is overkill. So a dominix or Megathron fitted with a rack of 250mm's wouldn't take up that much space and would allow the use for the rest of grid to even use Dual Large reps, although I doubt you would need them.

Ahh ditch the 1600mm plate takes up 500pg and isn't as useful on the brutix because thats half the grid, and get ... I think Hull Upgrades to III so you can use active hardeners(they give 50% bonus on their description). The strength of the Brutix is the repair bonus, so having a high Armor Repair skill to level 3 and battlecrusier to level 3 helps a ton.

so true, I can fly a BS since june 2005 and I didn't use one since... (can't remember)
I got more fun flying smaller/faster ships
any BS can be killed under a minutes by a fleet of T1 fitted frigate(i'm not sure but I think goonfleet did that no?) while the BS wont really be able to kill a single frigate since the tracking would be ugly
unless the BS is fitted to kill frigate ---
Don't forget to check my current Escrow!
