Aikasse Ministry of War Amarr Empire 0	Posted - 2014.07.26 01:28:00 - [1] - Quote Hey, my CPU says it is only running between 20-25%, however the fan is just plain flipping out. It sounds like a jet taking off. Only happens when I launch EVE, especially once I open up the second screen. Is there something I'm missing? (I oiled the fan and cleaned the heck out of it.. still super loud)

Aikasse Ministry of War Amarr Empire 0	Posted - 2014.07.26 02:16:00 - [4] - Quote basically always done it, it's an 8-core processor, and brand new graphics card, but the other one was quiet also (I used a pen top to see which fan it was by stopping it for a moment) the whole rid is Digital Storm and was set up to work well together, it's just that 1 fan that freaks out in over-drive. It does have a huge heat sink on the CPU, and the fan is attached to that. I would think the fact that it isn't running full-blast and it has the nice heat sink would mean it would run cool and fan would stay lower

If it's running hot, make sure your case isn't in an enclosed space or clogged with dust. After that I might try reapplying your thermal compound and reseating the cooler. Get the easy stuff outta the way first. I've ordered more getting here tomorrow, would that make a significant difference? or will it just use the additional 8gigs just as much?

Only need more ram when running multiple clients, and even then, it's more so video ram that you need. I doubt it would make much difference, as ram just increases the amount of things you can run at one time, and does not off-load the work on the CPU.

If it's set to 'Interval immediate' you should try setting it to Interval one (Interval immediate makes your GPU run full tilt all the time).

Thermal paste is not something magical that improves heattransfer. If it's applied incorrectly (which most people will do, smother the cpu) it reduces heat transfer. It has its niche when the surface is not completely smooth (making the heatsink touch the cpu with a very small surface) So unless your cpu or heatsink is dirty, you'll get reduced heattransfer with paste. It has its uses, but in 99% of the cases you are better off without it.

Because no cpu should be running at that temperature? should be running at 50-60. if its 60-70 then the cooling solution is inadequate. I've seen GPU's as high as 115, but pushing past 90 and it's time for a cleaning and/or new fans.
