What I am wondering and am seeking advice on is what book do you think it most like, I don't know so many book so I am not an expert on the genre.
Uhhh... ist that you, too? Confirmed, Zimmy is NSA.

I read many of his books and ALL endings are bad. It is weird really.
As an alternative to Hamilton I suggest Alistair Reynolds' Revelation Space novels.

As one of the member of the Dance band I will continue to play till the water rises above the keyboard on which I compose. I wouldn't have thought of the Titanic as an analogy but if you want a few concepts can be forced to fit
-complexity and new things to find around every corner -so big nobody really knows all of it, not even the people who built it know it all -rich folks in a different world than steerage =we all have destinations but it is doubtful we will get there =it is the journey and the trials therein that make our stories
yeah, that'll work

Eve is like if the Titanic was full of stupid people. It hits an iceberg but no one gets off. Or does anything to help. They just lay in bed reading skillbooks until it finally slips beneath the waves. |

My bet is on drunken posting. I frequently post drunk and I can assure you that no ammount of alcohol will make one feel like ither 1) the titanic was the perfect film 2)the titanic has anything to do with eve or 3)eve is actually dying (the thinly veiled point in the op). =][= |

The book that feels most like Eve to me is 'Blindsight' by Peter Watts. Cold, hard, ruthless and full of psychos. It's like Rendezvous with Rama meets Lovecraft. On crack. (And the best part - it's free: http://rifters.com/real/Blindsight.htm) |

Yes, Eve is indeed like the Titanic. Run by people whose hubris are sending it full tilt into the icebergs, while saying things have never been better.

To add to the book orgy in this thread, I submit Altered Carbon for clones, alts and shenanigans. I also recommend Neal Asher's Polity Universe novels. Finally I recommend Empyrean Age, which is a novel set in the EvE universe. Some of the novel is iffy but it does give some good pointers to in universe events and some good background lore. As well as the novel there is also a bevy of short stories available...somewhere on this site, I only knew where they were on the old forums and have not sought them out in a while. |

+1 For Altered Carbon and Neal Asher. I would also like to add the Expanse novels by James S.A. Corey. First one is "Leviathan wakes".
As for Eve fiction - enjoy:

Oh, and not technically science fiction - but if you want pure swashbuckling pirate fun with lots of dogfights, read the "Tales of the Ketty Jay" books by Chris Wooding. First one is "Retribution Falls". It has the most adorable golem. |

I think that depends a lot on individual play-style, experience and outlook.
With that in mind, for me EVE is often a lot like 50 Shades.
I imagine for many though it must be a lot like this.

I was kind of hoping it meant Kate Winslet plays EvE, and this thread was going to have naked pics of her at a computer playing one-handed like everyone else does.

Titanic was exceedingly boring. The last hour was the most painful experience I ever had sitting down, aside from a root canal.
If you thought it was a perfect movie, I doubt giving you the names of books that are an excellent read would proffer much. Be that as it may, I will suggest this:
