Caldari Gallente and Minmatar all have multiple types of damage ammo while amarr gets just EM/thermal DMG
when ur a mainly amarr pilot its harder to face againts foes whos EM resists are off the scale stuch as Guristas
perhaps adding crystals that do other types of DMG would balance this stuff out
yes i can skilltrain to other faction etc but i like lasers and this is an issue that could eazily fixed |

And how is light supposed to inflict Explosive or Kinetic damage?
Besides, this topic was brought up just a couple of weeks ago or so. Even though you are a CFC renter, this does not exempt you from using the Forum Search or Google/any other search engine to see if your idea wasn't already posted in the past. |

Wait, are there hybrid charges that deals other damage than Kinetic/Thermal? Because then I've missed something. |

No, hybrids are the same as lasers. Their different ammo types only affect range and cap usage. |

Given that a laser can propel an object doesn't that mean it has kinetic impact? I dunno, science isn't my thing - this is a genuine question. Saw a documentry once where people were doing this as an experiment trying to find new ways to put ships into space. No, your rights end in optimal+2*falloff |

Counterpoint: Tachyon lasers aren't using light and Masers also don't use light. I guess "energy weapons" is a lot more ambigous then most players realize. So why not add some sort of graviton-crystal to add kinetic and explosive damage via gravitic disruption?
Of course then Gallente and Caldaris should also get hybrid-ammunition doing EM-damage, it's only fair. |

Both would require an object propelled to the target and work as a basis from which the explosion could take place, as you can't use the method described, for instance, here with active shields. This would, in conclusion, require new weapons, which are similar to current hybrids, just with a different damage pattern.
Speaking of Hybrids, they also only have 2 damage types and no laser to ignite a plasma cloud on the location of the impact. Nor can hybrid charges cause electromagnetic damage. So, these would have to be changed as well in one way or another. And such a change would considerably overlap with the explosive laser, as you would have to employ the very same method of igniting the plasma on impact. And if this was a Hybrid between Hybrid, Laser and Projectile (of sorts), what skills would you require to train?

railguns arent really different from regular guns, they propels a shell that can contain anything - explosive, weird electrical charges, wathever. blasters are more similar to flamethrowers than guns so its a lot harder to make them do something else. if you want them to be somewhat more "real" probably they should do a small cone aoe or persistent damage, like flamethrowers - but this wouldnt work with eve engine. |

I find it unlikely the best way to fuse things is with explosives.
Heat may be the cause of an explosion but heat is not an explosion. Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification. |

yes i can skilltrain to other faction etc but i like lasers and this is an issue that could eazily fixed You whole post is based on an argument from ignorance.
Ignorance about the benefits of lasers.
Ignorance about open discussions
And Ignorance about you selection of facts, Amarr also have nice missile applications and through them can choose all damage types, not to forget drones with the same features.

I find it unlikely the best way to fuse things is with explosives. Heat may be the cause of an explosion but heat is not an explosion. if you fuse something you get a superficial outgassing. if you overheat that gas, it will explode. heated gas will increase of volume, an explosion is just overheated gas that increase volume violently. I wasnt describing some fictional weapon, its how most ultra-short impulse laser surgery work, for eg. its how they remove eye catharacts (ofcourse the "explosions" are microscopical here). but it scales and potentially can be used as a weapon. |

This has been brought up a bunch of times, the only downside to Amarr weapons is cap usage and not having any damage selection... it kinda defeats the purpose if you don't give any drawbacks to using a weapons system.. |

So if I mention a lock on my part, it is an assumption that it firstly has been reported by someone else already and might be locked ... cause I have good faith in my colleague posters and in the ISD and take it with a smile. You won-Št see me explode and can enjoy my stabs at the not-so-clever suggestions a bit longer.
