The reaction time of CONCORD is significantly reduced when they are already on site. However, if they are on site at a spot other than where you're at, the response time to show up to where you're at is longer. |

The main limitation is the same one gankers have. You can't recycle the alt you are using to spawn CONCORD when his sec status gets bad. You just gotta live with it, rat for sec, or use tags. If we're not supposed to shoot pods in hisec, why are they filled with meat? |

No. It will not give you protection. It will only punish those who break hi-sec rules.

It does up the level of protection, since when Concord is already on grid, their response time is extremely low. Also, personally, when I am ganking solo, or in a pair, there's no way in hell I am bothering shooting a barge when Concord is already there. |

Meh, more difficult but easy enough to live with puller being red. Use non red to bring noob ship to pulling location, warp puller to noob ship, board then shoot something.
I dont gank miners but if I did and saw this going on, I would pull them elsewhere and attack before you even noticed they were gone or just bring enough firepower so that it won't matter. Easy enough to counter.
If the ganker is the least bit competent and wants you to die, you will die, unless you are paying attention. So just pay attention and you wont have to worry about going to all the trouble of pulling them.

Even though CCP does not consider this an exploit, God hates it and considers it a grave sin, so if you do this, you will go to hell when you die. |

-0.1
Its classed as an exploit to avoid the penalties that go with a negative sec status by bio massing the character. But like all exploits its up to CCP's GM team to decide. If you want an official answer file a petition. |

yes, do it every time you mine in a belt. however, as soon as you see ganker garbage land on your belt and attempt to pull away concord, time to leave. once concord is more then 250km away, youre not protected anymore. But, its a lot of effort to pull concord away.
i doubt they will bother with a mining barge. they might decide to perma-bump you however. |

It was previously classified as an exploit, but that got tentatively overturned recently.
By all means, do it. Do it until the hammer falls. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

That being, if you use an alt to pre spawn concord, just like a suicide ganking alt that slot is taken and you can't delete the character. "Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws."

I'd guess most gankers would scout CONCORD in the belt and merely head to station first, undock in a disposable noobship which will pull CONCORD from the belt to the station, before then coming to try and gank ye.
In fact in some ganking-circles it's good etiquette to ensure you remove CONCORD from belts once you've done a gank so not to hinder further ganks by others.

Good etiquette is ganking a miner in your belt, and then leaving CONCORD there for protection. Increased safety and more ore, how can you beat that? ~ Professional Forum Alt -á~ |

Its pretty much standard procedure to 'summon' Concord before ganking in a system anyway. Costs nothing but 15 minutes and a free noobship - buys you extra time to complete a gank - quite important if ganking solo or in higher sec status systems. If I don't feel like waiting 10 minutes, I just use another -10 alt to summon, log off the GCC'd char - then switch over to the ganker.
Target is dead seconds after Concord leaves the belt. Or you can just go the Tornado route and alpha right through the Concord spawn. Instapop is insta, whether Concord is there or not.
Besides, its easier just to assume Concord hasn't been prespawned or in a belt, and just draw them to the station.
That, and 'throwaway' chars that are calling Concord for defensive purposes are quite obvious. Cloaked ganking scouts instantly can identify when it occurs. The only think gankers love more than blowing up miners' ships is getting them banned for botting, real life threats, racist rants or other violations.
All you do is record the name of the throwaway char and miner, addressbook them, check the bio in a few weeks - if the character got biomassed, send in the petition, watch the for the banhammer.
Gankers become quite familiar with miners in the systems they enforce the Code in - more than miners often realize. It just happens when much of your time is spent cloaked 150km from a belt, just watching belt activity. Stuff like this sticks out like a sore thumb.
We also notice when our victims get 'vacations' from EVE, addressbook feature is awesome.
TLDR; In the end, its a tactic of dubious usefulness because ganking standard procedure is generally to summon Concord to begin with - and it costs almost nothing. It also draws ganker attention to the miner with the 'Concord escort' provides an easy avenue for having carebears banned, so all-in-all, I'm for it.

Few things I would like to point out:
1. CONCORD will not protect against alpha strikes or Sheer overkill, which on miners really is not hard to get when each catalyst cranks 500+ DPS 2. CONCORD can be pulled to you, but away from you just as quickly and easily by the gankers so dont count on this to save you more than once or twice. 3. Be careful how you do it, someways are considered as an Exploit 4, Permit tank is better than CONCORD Tank and more reliable, Our kill boards show that much in glaring clarity. 5. Obey the CODE, CODE Always WIns 7. Bet you didn't notice i skipped 6
