Yes, there's a new entry at Skarsnik's EVE Tattoo blog, including an update on his third trip to get inked and some links to other sites that have had articles about his project.
Once again, I'm struck by Skarsnik's dedication to EVE.

Do i get anything if i have myself genetically resequenced into a jove ?
Or if i build my own electrostatic pod and neural interface it to my PC only for playing eve ?
Sterling work tho Wish i had the money/bottle to do that. Theres no better way to display your alliegence then to write it perminantly on your back.

Physical pain is something I've always been able to deal with pretty well. I don't like it, who does, but sometimes pain just comes along in the form of a car accident or surgery and... yeah, I've done pretty good with it.
However... needles and me? No. Even in the hospital when a nurse has to draw blood, I have to spend five minutes making myself understand that I am going to voluntarily let someone put a hole in my skin with a foreign object. This is one reason I'll never get drug users...
Tattoos are another thing I will never get. Pain & needles over and over again for hours at a time? I might be able to get a small one, but this guy... heh. Hats off, man. That's pretty cool looking, but your nuts!

How do I state this without sounding picky?
First off then: Respect to Skars for the commitment to this piece of ink.
I will write as a long time tattoo fan, who happens to love well executed body art.
I only have partial and incomplete pics of the work in progress to go by, however, I would personally not have used the same artist to do the design he chose.
By looking at the artists gallery you can see that he is great at medium sized Black/Grey/Sepia Tats with subtle shading and high detail. His smaller coloured pieces are ....acceptable, but not fantastic.
When you approach his colour work, especially the larger pieces, it becomes a little less well executed. It seems that he has trouble with contrasts other than shading. And he has not quite got the trick of blending colours, as shown by his use of definative(thicker) outlining. Also his figure studies could use a bit of work, the arm around the weapon looks unnatural to my critical eye.
Geez, how do you crit someone who has put so much into a project without hurting feeling or sounding like an asshat...you can't. But that was my educated opinion and I am honest about it.
I would be happy to have one of his smaller pieces though, or had the caldari design scaled down slightly. I would go to this guy to get a pair of sleeves(forearms) done anyday, but I wouldent let him near a full back piece with a 10 foot pole.

I hear on the grapevine all eve dev team members are required to have an 'Eve 4tw' tattoo on their chests.

Belladonna Nightshade, thankyou for your critique. This is the sort of critique I appreciate, both in the way it's written and the content of the post.
It's always interesting to read other peoples views when they are well constructed.
One thing I will point out (Yes I agree the arm is slightly out of kilter), is look at the original peice the arm is out on that too. I did ask louis to get the charachers themselves as close to originals as possible. So therefore some of the original errors are coming out in the finished article.
I must admit I'm quite happy with it. Once this stage has healed I'll post another picture up. I have had comments that I post images too soon. I will of course still post the work on the day it's done, but will follow up with healed results. This one should be healed in the next few days.
To those saying that I will regret it. I've thought about this a long time, I've got other tattoos I've had in the past and never regretted them.
And to Novarei - what can I say, if you dont like it, dont read it. Your inability to appreciate that all people are different is unfortunate for you. ------------------------------------------------- AWMCorp is Recruiting

well im covered in tribal tattoos over my back, but getting a tattoo of a game that tbh wont last more than what, 10 years tops, is rather silly IMO

That is one of the most hypocritical statements I have ever seen. I can accept that people can do whatever they want, and understand that they can enjoy things that I might not, that does not however mean I need too like it, pretend to like it, or even refrain from commenting on it.

I have a needle phobia. And tattoos. The experience and feeling is entirely different, if you didn't know it was a needle poking into you over and over and a high rate of speed, you wouldn't guess it. And for heaven's sake, don't sit there and think about it :)
As to the pain, it depends on where you're getting your tattoo. (outer) Arm, chest... These aren't bad. They're fleshy (be it fat or muscle) and aren't hugely sensitive. Getting tattooed here can't even be considered painful, it's just mildly irritating.

If you read that correctly, I wasn't meaning you HAVE to like it. What I'm meaning is that if you cannot appreciate that people are different, then you might find it difficult to relate to people in RL when you need to most.
As for refraining from commenting, fine comment away, but at least put some reasons around your statement. All the statement was aimed at was flaming. ------------------------------------------------- AWMCorp is Recruiting

Please go back to my site and read all the blogs. You will see that the decision wasn't generally of EVE itself, but of the cyberpunk style and feel of the imagery. ------------------------------------------------- AWMCorp is Recruiting

It doesn't look as if you even tolerate what other people do with their body, their time and their money, even if it has exactly zero impact on you and your surroundings. You're posting in a thread where you have no interest in the topic. Then you're calling Skarsnik's statement hypocritical.
Why does it sicken you? Is it the point that he decided to have a tatoo? Does the game related motive make you sick? Is it because he decided to take the original as closely as possible, without 'fixing' the picture? Or do you have a problem similar to Seleene's angst of being stung with needles? Don't you approve of Skarsnik's 'going public' with his 'project'? --*=*=*--

I'm not going to derail this thread any further, if you wish to discuss it further then eve-mail me. But its little surprise that positive comments on this 'project' are not replied to with such vigor, asking for rhyme and reason behind their opinions.

I may look like a tough guy, but I'm with Seleene. I can donate a pint of blood without a problem (2 gallon club member), but come at me with a syringe for a TB test, just be ready to catch me because I'm going to pass out. I get the feeling I would react much worse with a tattoo.
Physical responses aside, I can appreciate Skarsnik's love of EVE and reasoning behind this project. Big kudos to Skarsnik for his endurance and dedication.
