On the test server right now the option to lock pinned windows has been removed.
Now.... I don't know if it's just me but I've had this option ticked on for... well forever. It's the first thing I do when loading up a freshly installed client.
CCP's response to this:
CCP Optimal wrote:This was removed on purpose. The feature was becoming increasingly hard to maintain due to technical reasons, and given the fact that very few people even knew of it's existence, we decided to remove it.
Sounds like a familiar reason they gave for removing those window borders, that upset a lot of colour blind users because they found them extremely helpful. CCP promised a work around to that... but that never came.
So are we going to be stuck with windows that can be moved when all you wanted to do was rotate your view?
I also have serious doubts that very few people lock their pinned windows either, hell, I even lock my modules in case of accidently moving my guns to another slot when I all I wanted to do was fire them. It really doesn't take much for a click to turn into a drag, especially when you have a sensitive mouse. |

I pin my windows in the client because it makes them more transparent. I hope that hasn't been removed...
I agree it's a pretty silly reason to remove a feature, especially one that actually provides some functionality. Leaves only the fresh scent of pine. |

I also pin my windows to make them more transparent. To be honest I never got why pinning them didn't lock them by default.

It's pathetic that of all things, they couldn't muster up the prowess to maintain that. That in my opinion was the only thing that made the bajillion windows required on my screen to be tolerable. Everyone knew about them, it was a ******* button right at the top, go to a popular channel right now and ask them if they know about this functionality. They all do.
CCP is lying again because they are lazy, hung-over and inept. Nice Incarna engine also guys, you ******* imbeciles. |

That said, I'm sadly not surprised. They've had increasing problems with pinning and snapping and stacking of windows ever since the CarbonUI rewrite, so trying to just kill or dump old code seems like an equally increasingly sensible thing to do. There's an option to make them lock in place, but I don't know what it is off-hand. On my "widescreen client" I have them locked while on my "4:3 client" (with lower resolution) I have them unlocked, hopefully for obvious reasons. But either way, I pin them so i can see what's behind them. Leaves only the fresh scent of pine. |

Seriously though, I hope people file some bug reports on this feature removal. It probably isn't too late yet. |

As long as my windows stay where I put them, I will probably not miss this feature. Of course, if my windows start moving about during undocking/jumping it will definitely effect my experience with this new expansion. (Not that locking through pinning prevented that anyway.)
I can understand the whole "technical difficulties" thing. Its possible that some new features interfere with pinning. However, I do not care for the "no one knows about it" thing. I know that slippery-slope arguments are not solid, but a precedent of "I'm sure no one cares, lets just cut it" doesn't sound good to me at all.
Pruning obsolete features? Sounds good! Re-working old features back in? Excellent! Do you guys even use this anymore? Yes, yes we do. Don't touch that.
I don't know, maybe I'm just becoming too emotionally attached to the pixels. |

This is the same reason CCP cited for removal of letter boxing. To this day I would still be using letter boxing because often times I can't tell if my modules are on due to overly bright nebulae that washes out their indicators.
I pin and unpin all the time depending on the lighting of whatever system I'm in. I like being able to make them completely opaque or transparent as the situation arises. It makes reading text easier. I have no idea what the inability to pin them will do. Hopefully, the new UI improvements will allow their transition from transparent to opaque just as easily. If not, I will be one very disappointed player especially, as with letter boxing's removal, elements of the interface become un-readable given background brightness.
The idea that noone uses this feature or knows about it is laughable. We want breast augmentations and sluttier clothing in the NeX! |

I don't know, maybe I'm just becoming too emotionally attached to the pixels. maybe we should all go shoot something in jita until they decide to devote teams to find a way to "fix" the technical difficulties instead of removing them.
i just think it would be hilarious if "Occupy Jita" became the response to anything the players even remotely disliked. |

Well, I probably won't go shooting the statue again just because I can't pin windows. There is a difference between dislike and outrage. Can't speak for everyone though.

I tried it once, and loved it until a couple windows flew into the center of the screen anyway, but stayed locked so that I could not move them back out of the way without disabling the "feature". |

CCP could give everyone a free month of eve and a million skill points and the forums would still be full of whining. Seriously if you are upset about pinned windows then now is the time to go out side and play the mmo real life. Its really fun. |

I find setting my snap to at 3 stops windows bouncing around all over the place. Why can't they just do that instead as their stop-gap work around? I don't really see how they can justify removing it just because some people dont know how to turn 'snap to' off.
I hope the feature returns because I suffer from Dyspraxia which makes my coordination somewhat poorer than most people, particularly in the heat of combat, one misdrag of a window can cause my ui to screw up horribly to the point where I can lose a fight because of it. I kind of rely on pinned windows with the lock down feature enabled in order to stop me from failing quite as bad as I could. Really annoyed about this. How can be locking a window in place be a complicated thing, happily been using it since 2003!

Ill be missing this much less than engine trails that dissapeared.
TBH I dont see the advantage of pinning, i still accidentally interface with something behind the pin and everything else, I rather stack all of my windows.
Thankfully its optional.
